Yes, this song was released on the Japanese import CD single for "Polyester Bride", and was also the b-side on the "jukebox only" promo single. The "Polyester Bride" CD single also contains the same version of "White Bird of Texas" that can be found on the 1997 version of _whitechocolatespaceegg_ on Ken's CDs, under its earlier title "Waiting for the Bird". Both of these songs are great, in my opinion, and I do wish they would receive a wider release, along with some of the other songs recorded during the WCSE sessions that didn't make the album ("Blood Keeper" in particular). Speaking of "Blood Keeper", is anyone else reminded of Nirvana's "Come As You Are" during the verses, or is it just me? I just got back from Liz's show at the University of Chicago, and I have to say it was one of the greatest concerts I have ever been to! I even thought it was better than the Lounge Ax even though it was a totally different situation. She and her band played so amazingly great! The band sounds so tight and polished now and it really showed at the show. I went with Spaceeggy Katie from this list to the show and we were both right in the pit hanging over the gaurdrail. We were almost directly in front of Liz. The opening act was David Mead, who was pretty good. But when Liz came out playing Chopsticks it was pure magic! She looked so beautiful wearing a short pink skirt and a white kind of halter top. Before I forget, here's the entire set list: Chopsticks Fuck and Run Johnny Feelgood Mesmerizing Cinco De Mayo Flower Firewalker 6'1" Go On Ahead Uncle Alvarez Don't Apologize Polyester Bride Supernova WCSE Encore: Perfect World Sratford-On-Guy Divorce Song Both of the new songs sounded great and they both rocked......HARD! Especially "Don't Apologize", which kinda sounded like Nirvana meets The Beatles I thought. Firewalker was kinda heavy and dark and the feel of the song actually reminded me a little of Blood Keeper. I LOVED both of those songs and I hope she puts them both on her new album whenever it comes out. Somebody screamed out for Blood Keeper, and Liz actually responded! She was like "How do you people know these songs! People know so many songs that have never left the recording studio that I don't remember to play!" or something to that effect. Janet brought out a B-Day cake towards the end of the show and Liz was totally suprised and laughing. She blew out the candles and then the crowd sang Happy B-Day to her! She was just laughing and concucting the crowd when we sang Happy B-Day. It was so funny! At the end of the show, her drummer threw his drum sticks into the crowd and I caught one of them! And then after the show, Spaceeggy Katie got some crew member to give her the setlist. I also took about 4 or 5 pics of Liz during the show until some security told me to stop. But I'll be putting those pics up on my site within the next week or so. My favorite song of the night was definately "Don't Appologize", which ROCKED HARD! After the show Katie and I hung outside by the back door waiting to catch a glimps of Liz. We waited for about an hour and all of a sudden Buddy came out! We congratulated him on a great show and he said thanks. He looked like he was in a hurry so we didn't bother him. Then about 10 minutes later the doors opens up and who is it?..........LIZ!!!! Katie ran up to her and wished her a Happy B-Day and gave her the bear she made for Liz. Liz was so nice to us and we each got seperate pics with her! We congratulated her on a great show and she said thanks alot. She was so nice and was really gracious, which was great to see in this day and age. We waited outside a little longer and then Janet came out! She was super nice! Katie got her picture taken with her too and we talked with her for a few seconds. Then we walked passed the tour bus but really couldn't see inside. And that ended our amazing Liz evening. We were both in seventh heaven after the great show and after meeting Liz. What a night! It's something I will always remember till the day I die! Craig "AdRock" Phair Territory http://phairterritory.freeservers.com _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I was surprised to hear a few people requesting it. Here's my take on the show, it was awesome! Craig and I got there super early and got right in front of the stage, slightly to Liz's left. Before the show, I was standing right in front of the door, waiting for it to open to let us in and one time, Buddy Judge (lead guitarist) came out and I greeted him. It seemed to happen so fast cuz no one else recognized him as he walked through the crowd, but he gave me a smile before he took off. I also saw Janet, backup vocals, come out too. I snuck in a camera and only got four pics cuz some security guy was being a meanie and told us to not to take pics. Good thing they came out good! Another thing that happened by a fluke is my back pack never got checked. Hmmm.. One thing that made my night was Liz making eye contact with me during the show. I made her smile during Divorce Song when she saw me singing along. I couldn't believe it! Liz Phair giving me this huge smile! As for the crowd, it was ohki. I don't go to the school, so I wouldn't know, I'm from Orlando. It felt like there were so many there that weren't into her music like me. I had the girl next to me looking at me strange cuz I was singing along to all of the songs and dancing around. After the show, some girl got onto the stage and grabbed one of the setlists and I asked her to get me one and she did. Craig and I headed to the backstage door and waited for an hour before anyone from Liz's band came out. Buddy was the first to come out and I said hi to him again. Didn't get a picture with him cuz he looked like he was in a hurry to get to the bus waiting at the curb. Then Liz came out a few moments afterwards. I walked to her and said I wanted to wish her a happy birthday and I made a bear for her. Gave her the bear and she said, "Oh how sweet. Thank you, it's cute." Got a picture taken with her, it came out good and you can see her holding the bear. I also got her to sign the setlist I had with me. After taking a picture of Liz and Craig, she left for the bus....those high heels seemed to give her a few probs cuz she stumbled on her way over there. Then Janet came out and I got my picture taken with her, she was really nice. Oh yeah...here's the setlist: Chopsticks, Fuck and Run, Johnny Feelgood, Mesmerizing, Cinco de Mayo, Flower, Firewalker (new song), Never Said, 6'1", Go On Ahead, Uncle Alvarez, Don't Apologize (new song), Polyester Bride, Supernova, WCSE. ENCORES: Perfect World, Stratford on Guy, Divorce Song There's more in my original review that will be up on my site. Will let everyone know when it gets up with my pictures. Scanner is having a mind of its own tonight and will not cooperate! grrrrr! Shirts info for those who are going to future concerts: White baby tee with EIG cover in a little square. Of course it is. Someone owns the publishing rights to those songs. I assume Liz. Same goes with Ken's CD's. I'll even go so far as to say the guy who sold Ken those didn't have the right to do so. But in Ken's and Jeff's defense they are only distrubuting stuff you can't buy and are not making a profit. Most intelligent artists would not have a problem with this.(ie. not Garth "Greedy" Brooks) Also if Liz releases Girlysounds I would assume most(if not all) would purchase it because of the much better quality you could obtain off the masters. I also think Liz makes a much better living than some of you seem to believe. Primary artists at independent labels usually get better royalty rates and stand a much better chance to retain their publishing rights. Too many times major labels own the publishing rights and make alot more money than the artist sees. 3/4 million sales of EIG might translate into 2 million at a major. You could make a pretty good living selling that every time out. As usual, this is far too long. Bill in CT P.S.
