Wow. Even in a shitty venue (great hall at the university of minnesota better known for its amazing echo than anything else). She appears a thousand times more confident than she did even six months ago. And relaxed on stage. A couple of years back she was so nervous on stage that i felt sorry for her. And her new songs? First off, I agree with everyone that the opening act did blow chunks and sucked ass at the same time. The guy's name is David Mead so beware! Oh, they weren't creative enough apparently to think of a band name...or so they say. Anyway, that being my first Liz concert, I thought it was worth the 4 hour drive I made to get there on a monday night. I thought they sounded good. There were a few mistakes but considering that it's early in the tour, it's expected and besides, it made the show even better. I think it will get cleaner and smoother for later shows which is a shame (in some ways) for later shows. The only bad things I can say about the show are about the big tall guy in front of me that kept swaying (dammit, I'm only 5'7"!) and the 12yo girls who were acting very 12 years old! I mean, you take the url www.lizphair.com, you should DELIVER! At first I thought the site was goign to be okay. Good design, yada yada yada. I mean, it had the bare essentials. HOLD THAT THOUGHT. I'm not saying that I am the queen of websites, cuz I'm not. This isn't an issue of content on Liz Phair websites. I repeat: this isn't an issue of content on Liz Phair websites. I will tell you what it's an issue of in the end of this post. Anyway... so yeah. It was okay. I was a bit peeved that someone new to the Liz ring of sites would just up and take that address, cuz I thought maybe like... Ken Lee or someone should have it, but whatever. I mean... whatever. I thought... well maybe this site will be worth it, adn that's why this guy decided to call himself www.lizphair.com. Here's the problem: THIS SITE WAS BUILT, AND NOW APPEARS ABANDONED. The most recent news on the news page is LIz's fall tour (which ended in OCTOBER!) This site claims that: "Those who already know of Liz Phair can find what they are looking for here." What if I"m looking for recent news? Huh? I mean... grrrr... UPDATE THE DAMNED THING AND I WON"T HAVE ANY PROBLEM! The "official unofficial web site for liz phair." Grrr. Honestly... innocent web surfers will type in www.lizphair.com looking for an official type page, and will take this site as the gospel truth! I know it says "official unofficial" but that's close enough to saying "official" that people will think this is what it is. AUGH! It pisses me the hell off! Now... like i said... this isn't an issue purely of content. it's a matter of living up to your claims! I claim to be www.angelfire.com/ca/DontWalk. Not a very hefty claim, i don't think. I'm allowed to have a crappy site, allowed to slack off, allowed to do whatever. It's free space... and I don't think I'm taking up soemone else's place on the web. Know what I mean? Okay the truth is I'm only explianing myself so much because of ONE person, whom I shant name, but who is very very judgemental of me and my criticisms of other sites. As long as I can take it! I can fuckign take it! Criticize my site if tehre is something you don't like about it! I'll try to fix it, if it's like... within reason. Not if it's like... "i don't like you." i can't fix that shit. But what I'm saying is... it's just overly pretentious to be www.lizphair.com, and you better live up to that pretense! But ya don't!
