I went because i like the stuff i've heard. I'd heard him do an acoustic radio session a year or so back and liked his first solo album and also his new single "cigarettes will kill you". I can't explain the shock of seeing him live, it was painful to watch. His stage presence was terrible, all geeky dancing and stupid comments ("this is the future of music" - type things). The two girl keyboard players did nothing to help, one danced like a gibbon wired to the mains. His cover of "perfect world" was let down by him doing it a capella and not having the voice to pull it off (plus his stomping around the stage and stupid posturing didn't help). Sorry, i just didn't like it. Maybe it was the excitement of headling a (quite) big show in London getting to him. I was as disappointed in the gig as you were in my review, but i wasn't the only one to walk out, the floor was noticably emptier after about 15 minutes. Feel free to check him out yourself and YES his records are good, but on the night he stank. "and i wonder how i've come to know so much less than i knew before" ... Joseph Lee Henry. Although I'm semi-new at this IRC chat that a few of the listmembers regularly visit, last night I entered #wcse at 2am and was surprised to see three people in there. I didn't recognize anyone, so I figured they were people I hadn't yet met on they were the same people with new screennames. So, I start chatting about Liz and everyone is like, "Who's Liz?" It was then, I realized I probably made a huge mistake and entered the wrong room. Turns out the three people I was talking to were a small group of gay Canadians who created #wcse as an acronym for their initials. Can you believe that? The chances of someone creating 'wcse' with the exact order of those letters is amazing. They were nice people too, but I felt like I was intruding. I just wanted to let everyone know. I thought it was pretty bizarre, myself. On another note, I received my CDs from Ken (a thousand thank-you's are in order) and like some of the listmembers, have also created covers for the CDs which are available at my Liz site. I hope I scanned them to scale. If not, e- mail me and maybe I can send some out to people. Alrighty, I'm outta here. I haven't written in ages and I only read about one digest a week(I'm not even gonna lie)so I have a question: Has 'Johnny Feelgood' been released as a single or video, yet? Any news on that? My Liz story: I was on a club field trip about a month ago and we were at the local mall. My teacher just happened to stroll into the same record store that my friend and I were in. Someone said something about Liz Phair and my teacher busts out on Liz Phair. She's starts talking about how horrible Liz is live and how when she saw Liz open for Alanis in New Orleans, people were booing her and her voice kept cracking. She also said somehting about not wasting your money on her. Folks, I know I shouldn't take it personally and everyone has their own opinion, but I was about to regulate! You don't talk negatively about Liz around me, especially based on one single experience you had. I also doubt Liz was as bad as ol' girl was making her out to be. I had to get out of that record store and sit on one of the benches and collect myself! It's actually kind of funny but I was pissed at the time. Much love to the NIN lovers on the list. I'm sorry if I generated a fuss with my binge and purge comment for weight loss. I wondered whether I should include that in my weight loss post. It's not something that I condone or would recommend making a habit of. When trying to lose weight a couple years ago, I did it a few times so I included it, just to be honest, not encouraging. If I had just gluttoned myself on a huge meal or something, I would usually feel awful, bloated, sick. So deciding to take another look at lunch (or dinner or whatever) would actually make me feel better. I know its a little fucked up but not much more so than the act of binging itself. But when it comes down to losing weight, there are really only two ways - - take in less calories and/or burn more calories. So if you want to continue to eat a lot and not excercise and lose weight, the only option left is to make use of your god given gag reflex. But like I said, I am not advocating bulimia. One more Heathers' quote (the topic reminded me of this movie): "If you were happy everyday of your life, you wouldn't be a human being, you'd be a game show host" For now...
