Gee...it's really nice to read how everyone enjoys reading the reviews and seeing Craig's and KB's pictures. But please don't forget who was the one who helped you guys see them! It wasn't easy getting those up! So...please don't forget who deserves a little bit of recognition. ();) Anyhoo, has anyone ever noticed some typos on Whip-Smart? Like on the cd for Cinco (Cince) de Mayo and in the credits for Shane? Oh yeah...for anyone who has a cd burner, please email me! I'm thinking of getting one myself this summer and need all the good advices I could get like: good brand, where to buy, and the average price for one. I'll probably have to settle for a cd recorder and keep seeing one advertised in my paper for $600 and I know I could probably get one cheaper than that. ***No Liz content*** DarkSide of the Moon wrote: "Sheryl Crow...just got home from her concert sat night...it rocked!" I totally agree! I saw her Friday! Even better, I met her lead guitarist, Peter, before the show! He is soooo nice! I got a picture taken with him, but it's on the camera I didn't use during the show. Anyways...only seven pictures during the show came out kinda good. If anyone cares to see them, go to my Sheryl site (never update half the time): http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Birdland/9820/sherylcrow.html Oh well...looking forward to going back to school tomorrow, (yeah right), only to find myself to be out of town next weekend. woo hoo! Haley's Comet. how could i forget? only freaking lyric in that song), to do a cover of our liz. only person out there who should be singing liz phair songs is liz...oh, and perhaps the fans who have a permanent home for juvenilia in their cd players at home and like to crank it up and act silly while they are vacuuming their apartments on a sunday afternoon. PHISH? thats simply degrading. no offense. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 99 12:40:56 -0500 From: dbickin@ibm.net Subject: Ken CD's >Date: Fri, 19 Mar 1999 01:35:23 -0600 (CST) >From: kenmlee@ix.netcom.com (Kenneth Lee) >Subject: This one's dedicated to Nicole W. >It's me again. (And come to think of it, I had financial difficulties which made me a very late contributer.) Would be nice to know where I am in the queue, but that would take time, which would delay me (us) getting the CDs, so I guess I am going to have to wait it out. And I do appreciate the effort you are putting into this. David P.S. to all: I know I read someone had the lyrics to Blood Keeper on their site, but does anyone have a music sample available; a 30 second WAV or MP3? Also, do you think Liz, or Liz's management might be less inclined to use these songs on a future commercially released album given that they are being distributed now? I would guess not, since Girlysound stuff is still showing up and most every fan has a copy of that already. - -- - ----------------------------------------------------------- dbickin@ibm.net - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 13:59:51 -0500 From: Meredith Robbins Subject: "Whip-smart anyway" Wow, I'm getting to be a regular poster (it's just 'cause I want to be cool like Nicole--and now Ken). Spotted in Michael Dirda's review column in today's Washington Post Book World (it's actually used as the pull quote, as well as being part of the text): "Harvard-educated but whip-smart anyway, as a poet Sissman commended the entire armada of English verse, which he liked to deploy in puns, literary refernces, and wordplay." That's all; I just thought it was kind of cool to see "whip-smart" in print (though I entertain no hopes that it's because Michael Dirda is a rabid Liz listener--it's not such a difficult compound word to come up with independently, I think). You can go back to doing whatever it was you were doing before. Weber" Subject: Jealousy Hey there: To all of the Lounge Ax folk out there, I'm glad to say that I'm not jealous of ya. There are reasons of course, and I know the jealous comment is simply a metaphor for saying, "Hey I wish I was there." I'm glad you got to see her and the show rocked. I must confess, however, that the reason I'm not jealous is because I had a similar experience back in 1995 on the Whipsmart tour. Totally awesome show, and I did get to meet her after. Pre international club, but some- one brought some ginseng tea (homemade) and everyone had a good time. Graig, fellow Milwaukeean, were you at that show? Shank Hall, April 1995. Still got her autograph on the inside of my jacket. The show occurred right after her wedding I believe, and she mentioned that she was going on a honeymoon on some island (bahamas maybe), or maybe she had just came back from it. Sorry, but that was 4 years ago. Tough to remember. She still had a bit of the stage fright back then. Only reason I realized that was because she had this intense concentration during a couple songs, and her voice cracked once I believe. Once again, that was 4 years ago, and it's tough to remember. I don't have the Shank Hall boot, although I know it's out there. I was lucky that night to in the fact that I got in on the guest list due to the kindness of a friend of mine who was waitressing there. I love you for that Rebecca, even though I lost contact with ya a couple months after that, hehe. Anyways, glad you guys and gals had so much fun at the Lounge Ax. Liz rocks! Ciao, Joe P.S. If anyone has that Shank Hall boot, and I could get a copy, it would be great for the memories. Later. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 21:32:36 PST From: "Paul Erickson" Subject: liz's negative reaction at the Louge Ax show I deleted the original message already so this is from memory, but I think Katie Brown mentioned Liz saying something like "oh, the international club" and reacting kind of negatively and seeming to want to get away. I don't know how accurate my recount is, but anyway I remember thinking that Liz is probably just a little freaked out seeing some of the same people in the audience at multiple shows in multiple cities. There are many celebrities that have problems with obsessed fans and that may be a sort of lingering concern in the back of the head of many famous people. I'm sure Liz doesn't have anything to worry about with any of us, but I can see where she might start to worry nonetheless. Anyway, just my thoughts. By the way I was at the Lounge Ax show and it kicked ass. I thought the rendition of Flower was great, especially the confusion over the lyrics for the one line (girlysound vs. guyville). Now I have two tickets to the Columbus, OH show. See everyone there.
