how depressing! the new email i have is the digest.. not that i dont' love
getting the digest, but still... none of my friends love me, i guess <g>

that okay, cause i'm going to rome and florence and venice and munich
(where i want to test drive a new bmw <g>) and niece and barcelona and
mirbella to lay on the beach for 3 days. so HA!!   actually, you all
probably hate me too, cause you aren't doing that either.. oh well.. i'll
send postcards <g>

i'm sitting in the library listening to "the hot rock", which is just
amazing! i'm supposed to be all the reading that i havent' done in the last
3 weeks, but i dont' really feel like it.  i ended up taking a really tube
ride because i didn't feel like changing trains or going to station 2
blocks farther from where i wanted to go <g>  me lazy?   nah...

anyways, i'm very excited cause it seems the currently dismal concert scene
is going to rectify itself once i get back from my trip.  s-k is opening
for jsbe, and i'm going!  (well, i still have to go buy my tickets, but
that's no biggie <g>)  and then the next day i'm off to the bowlie
weekender for 3 fabulous days and nights of great music!  and whenever liz
gets over here...

oh, and i totally agree with whoever said that it would have been silly to
name the album polyester bride or go on ahead.  BORING!! although just a
reminder to whoever said that, wcse is a name of a song on the album,
although the album name came before the song name...

okay, i'm going to go dive into the scary science journal stacks.. wish me
luck

There were evil thoughts regarding Liz (temporarily) invading my usually
clean, fun and innocent mind, but they are gone (temporarily)
now.....come-on guys, we've all had 'em before....Alas, My loneliness is
killing me, I must confess, I still believe, when I'm not with you I lose my
mind give me a sign.....hit me baby...ya ya you all know the rest....I threw
that in cause someone was talkin' about the "Gimmies" (my attempt to be cool
in creating a slang term for the grammys...wait, has this been done before?)
in the last issue and mentioned Britney.....I was at the Zoo (a niteclub
last night boogie-ing my ass off to that tune (and numerous other cheesy
tunes that I normally dont listen to).....that tune really pumps the crowd
up.....woowooo....I was bustin' a move with a cute honey (who later rejected
my further advances...another story)...I think I was way to drunk....$1.50
beers and numerous pre-bar hits from da bong will do that to ya real
quick....

Just curious to know what part of What makes you happy people find
over-produced...is it the echo parts at the
end...."LISTEN..LisTEN..ListEN..ListeN...LOVE..LOVe..LOve..Love...HOUSE...HO
USe..HOUse..." or is it the guitars with the flange-funky-delay thing going
on....cause I love that echo vocal thing, I think it is really
cool.....personally, I find polyester bride the tune that has a little too
much dabbling at the soundboard for my liking, specifically the guitars at
the end after the "she said baby....she said baby yahhh"....*all quiet* "do
you wanna be a polyester bride"......buh buh bum, buh buh bum...

It is kind of wierd that most of the tunes on WCSE that I think are
slightly-overproduced are done by Brad Wood.......(overall I think the
production is good)....hmmmmmm......

Oh.....one more thing.....I was wondering why it is that you Yanks insist in
brewing the most horrible, piss infested, used bong water in a can,
beer....I was at the residence here at university before the bar last night
and someone was drinking Old Milwakee (excuse the spelling) beer.....I was
offered one and I accepted as all my beers (Molson Canadian Ice--a truly
fine brew) were empty.....I swear this beer tasted like it was brewed with
recycled dish water.......I understand that there are more micro-breweries
popping up in the U.S. nowadays, probably brewing some good stuff but
come-on...why cant the U.S. brew some good beer???? There are over 250
million of you, you think at least a couple would stand up and say " hey,
why does our beer taste like piss?"..... What is also funny is that you can
buy some Canadian beers in the U.S., but they even change the recipe to make
it taste like shit so you wont notice the difference and start
complaining.....sorry to rant and rave, but if I was an American, I would
stand up and fight!!!----"We Want good beer, We want good Beer!!"--it is
time for a revolution!!!! -thats what I would be screaming at the top of my
lungs at the white house....

Subject: wcse cover, jealousy, grammys

The wcse cover: it is really iconoclastic, but I guess she couldn't really do
polaroids and stick on letters *3* times, so - if we accept the fact that it
had to be more polished... the yellow bubbles are okay, but I detest the
picture.  Those criticisms of her nose are right on - it looks like an arrow
pointing down.  Hey, that's kind of appropriate - because that picture has a
singular effect on high school boys: it makes them think of looking *down* her
dress.  I swear it does. I have a wcse promo flat on my binder cover, with the
plain yellow bubble side showing, and one day I flipped it so the album cover
showed, and all the guys were like "[choke, clear throat] uh.. who's THAT?
[drool]"

Argh, don't even tell me that... they came by my area on their solo tour last
fall, and I just now fell in love with them.  Why, why, why did I not get
their album earlier?  I would totally have gone to that show....

Which did she analyze, jealousy or the led zeppelin song?  I'd like to know.
About that sound, I always thought of it as "the sound at the beginning of
crater lake" rather than "at the end of jealousy" until I got Juvenilia and
heard it between Jealousy and Turning Japanese.  Then that started a whole new
mystery - what are all these blurry pictures of Liz?  THEN I saw the Jealousy
video, now everything makes sense.  And who said that was the best video?  I
like it too, Liz is the gorgeousest in that one, and the way the shuddering
camera matches the beat is cool.

Some of them aren't scared, they're just lazy / complacent.  Many don't know
better.  They actually think that the redundant, predictable, grating radio
fare is the best there is.  Plus, people who produce radio hits are like
advertisers - they have a vested interest in analyzing exactly how to hook
people.  I mean, okay - back to Ms. Imbroglio here - I can't help singing
along when she comes on the radio, even though I think she's a hollow flake.
Producers set out to hook people, and in most cases they succeed.  They even
hook Liz half the time.  Nana nana na na, gettin jiggy wit it...

The lowest point of this year's Grammys were all the awards for Alanis's
_Uninvited_.  Jagged Little Pill and I used to be on good terms with each
other - I had once liked it, though I had since found better music, and
whatever people said, I still couldn't hate Alanis.  I even dig her pre-JLP
pop crap, it cracks me up.  Then last summer Alanis finally introduced a new
tune, and what was it?  That horrible horrible Uninvited.  Of all things, why
give that song prizes?  I'd rather hear the Titantic theme.

The high point was giving a Grammy to Brandy and Monica for "The Boy is Mine."
When my friends and I drove 5 hours to see Liz last year, that was our theme
song (don't ask why) so I thought that was pretty funny.

Did anyone read the article about Alanis in Spin?  For some reason (boredom)
I read it, and it's quotes Liz Phair talking about Alanis's "music":

our own lives."

Very nice of her, but I don't know what the hell she means...

Umm... I just wanted to say that I'm so happy that someone finally
answered one of my threads (the wcse cover one) and I'm glad people agree.
And disagree too, I guess... gotta have some opinions, I guess.  I still
hate the damned cover, though.  

Tomorrow is the big event for some people... woo hoo have fun and think of
those who aren't there, like me.  :)  grrr.  No I'm not at all jealous!  
Actually, I'm in an odd mood right now, and I'm not jealous.  I mean I saw
liz three times (in the span of two months, no less), and I met her... so
I can't complain.
Anyway I'm in a real Pearl Jammy mood right now (my favorite band... for 7
years!  I rank Pearl Jam above liz, too.  Sorry!)
So more than anything I'd fucking love to see Pearl Jam right now.  Shit
if I ever met any member of PJ... wow.
Anyway... i have nothing else to say.
Sigh.

Anybody seen the new S80 commercial on TV? The vocals in the ad sound alot
like Liz. I already asked Nicole, she hadn't seen it.They played it at least
twice during basketball coverage on CBS today. I really want to know.
