Especially the part about egg dyeing, I would've never thought of such an explanation. Thank you, thank you, you are so cool. Cynthia was also very, very helpful. I was floored with all these cool insights. I'm printing them out and saving them. It's good to know that having obsessed over the words to wcse does not make me a weirdo. I am not alone! JLDblahblahblah said: "OK, I hate it when folks post like this -posts that are not relevant toeveryone or even pertinent Liz topics and such. But I have to tell YOU sinceno one else would understand this.I had this incredibly vivid dream last night that I was at a Liz show" No, no, no - this IS relevant to everyone. For one thing, we like Liz dreams. Okay, correction, *I* like Liz dreams - a lot - and I would think many others do too. Another thing - you dreamed about the list members. That's relevant. So thanks for posting your dream. I bet I wasn't in it, but I love the part when Jason chews out the rude guy. Jason to the rescue, as always. Josh said "On a personal note, am I the only one who's really sick of Flower?" Though Flower is cool, I understand your point - if people have to remember Liz by one song, Flower is a bad way to go. Like it breaks my heart that her big radio hit was Supernova. It's a great song and all, but you know there are others much more brilliant and unconventional that are equally catchy. I think I once posted a review for the single at Amazon.com and in it, I was really torn between raving over Liz and trying to say that her other stuff is even better than the single. Anyway, this is too much posting for comfort, I'm out... Leslie P.S. I saw Daria with Polyester Bride. The matching of song to situation [the polyester stepmom] was cool, as someone mentioned. Also, near the beginning of the episode, I heard some Veruca Salt: Number One Blind aka Levellor, which also happens to be my coolest musical possession - a pink vinyl 10" single. Wait, I've mentioned that before... redundant... sorry. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 10:40:04 -0500 (EST) From: george2@sas.upenn.edu (matt george) Subject: posters... hey, someone asked about liz posters, and recently i noticed that a record store by my school actually has a couple (maybe 4 or 5 ?) of those polyester bride posters for sale in their poster bin ! i already have this one on my wall, so i didn't think of buying one, but i thought i could possibly help out someone who couldn't get one and buy it for them if they wanted (i think they're like 3 bucks each ?) but if you want to send me a couple bucks to get one for you (and uh, they still have some left), then e-mail me privately and maybe we can work something out :) matt http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~george2/music/liz ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 12:03:27 EST From: AngelLieb@aol.com Subject: Something new at Spaceegg Corner Ohki folks, I added something new to my site. It's song/question of the month, where everyone can submit their thoughts on each song I put up. To get a better idea, go to: http://geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Birdland/9820/liz-songmonth.html March 1999 song of the month is Mesmerizing. Anyways, could everyone who has gotten Ken's cds please email me? I'm trying to organize something and would like to have as many people involved. Thanks! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Katie ();) "Send it up on fire Death before dawn," Liz Phair. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 10:21:50 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Schulz Subject: Sick of Flower Yeah, I am sick of Flower. I just get the feeling that she comes of kind of like a novelty act when she plays it live. Like she caters to the people who bought Exile because it made them giggle when she said "fuck" so many times. Anyway, I think most people's first impression of Liz came on Supernova, which got pretty good MTV and alt-radio play. I think that's a good intro. But if I was going to play someone a Liz song and say, "Check this out!", I'd play Mesmerizing, Jealousy, Divorce Song or Perfect World. Those songs sorta run the gamut of what she makes her so cool, I think. Then you let people grow to like great songs like Nashville. Perhaps you'll consider this a good scenario for playing Flower: Imagine being a woman, and playing it for the man for whom you are quite hot. Translation: in Flower, Liz sings from my point of view, describing my EXACT feelings for my Johnny Feelgood (and saying it far better than I could). Pretty potent stuff! Call it an aural aphrodisiac. I'm dying to play it for him, and then let whatever may happen afterward, happen... ;^) Hurricane Cindy NP: the Pixies, "Here Comes Your Man" he he he ;^) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 14:10:33 -0500 From: "Chris" Subject: tape tree? I'm not trying to rush anyone, but has the tape tree been announced? I know Jason said he was working on it last weekend. I've had a busy week and only skimmed a couple of digests, so I'm afraid I might have missed it, which would be a bad thing, as I volunteered to be a branch. And just for the record-- I never expect anyone to agree with everything I say or think... and I wish more people felt this way out there (less flaming) I just enjoy seeing other peoples views, and for once felt like expressing mine. Thanks again Cindy!!! >the colors mentioned in the song WCSE... "orange and BLUE, >green and PINK"...More evidence that >the song is indeed about son Nick, perhaps still unborn when she first came >up with the lyrics? **I read that someone else thought the colors were the nationality's of Liz and her husband, and this makes sense to me... When you put it together: "Orange and blue, green and pink -- I see you in everything... " and "Purple, yellow, reddish brown -- Once I felt you, I couldn't lay you down" yes, it does sounds like she is talking about her son... and if the nationalities/flags bit is true, I would not be surprised... but also, they all seem like baby-colors...perhaps his clothing, room... and perhaps reddish-brown is representing the colors involved with giving birth, such as the blood, and the purple could be the color of his skin, since some babies look purplish directly after being born.... Another thought is the fact that maybe she just took some random colors, because she says "I see you in everything...every rock and tree and leaf abound..." -- In other words, everything makes her think of her baby boy... It's sweet anyway you look at it.
