There is a difference between constructive criticism and random gratuitous meaness in signing someone's guestbook. People who have websites put a lot of work into writing that html and they (gross generalization stemming from my own personal experience) are protective of their work. The point of a guestbook is to say nice page, or maybe offer a suggestion for the site. But the point is not to say you suck or something like that. I don't think that by having a guestbook you are automatically accepting everything. So, the point is if you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything at all, because there is no point, nobody gains anything from it, and you just end up making somebody feel like shit. So, that is my comment for the day, take it with a grain of salt or sugar, whichever you prefer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jenny If you get invited to your first orgy, don't just show up nude. That's a common mistake. You have to let nudity "happen." http://www.liz-phair.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Mar 1999 06:49:16 GMT From: "Herbert Hoover" Subject: Wrong, wrong "Subject: To my dear, lovely guestbook friend So, obviously who ever keeps signing my guestbook is a member of this list who has nothing better to do than keep going to my page and sign nasty stuff in my guestbook. I have one thing for you, if you have a problem with me and my page, I'd prefer to have you come to me by emailing me instead of being an immature freak by signing the guestbook as one of the forefathers or the pope. Like that's really cool?" First of all, one cannot be a pope and a president at the same time, can one? These forces are obviously those of a group of people. Say, more than one, maybe two or three. When you are a dead, ex prez or pope, there is not much to do. So you surf the web. You sign guestbooks with honest opinions. Then those honest opinions get erased, and you get angry. So you sign it again. And then they get erased again. It becomes a cycle. So you sit around and put your dead president tasks aside, and you do what you have to do. So the pope and I, we sign the guestbook as ourselves. Would you like us to hide our identities? That would be like erasing honest but maybe not 100% praiseful guestbook entries. Ahhh I'm full of irony, I know, but that's the beauty of it. When you die, and you don't really... turn to dust, there must be a higher cause that you have to answer to. I was put back here for something, as were the popes and the other dead presidents. Hey Polkie Face!!! seek and ye shall find. maybe. ~Herbert Hoover~ I don't suck! Feb. 27): I've had inquiries from people who are unable to access it. Pioneer Planet originally published the article on Sun. Feb. 21; apparently their *home page* search engine only searches the last 7 days' articles. The web address of the article is too long to reliably copy & paste to the list. So to get to the article, use the overall Pioneer Planet site search engine, as follows: Go to http://www.pioneerplanet.com/services/search.htm, select "All of Pioneer Planet" on the drop-down menu, and enter "liz phair" in the search engine. 20 documents should come up. Select #11, "Hurts So Good" 2/21/99 - -- that's the article I talked about. I'd love to discuss this topic further, if anyone's up for it (I don't bite, really... never mind the teeth marks on that man behind the curtain).
