Anyone else see this? I swear it looked exactly like him. I know it probably wasn't, but I swear it looked like him. I think I said that 3 times. He He. Hmmmm... Oh well. Is that the case everywhere, or did > they shorten the video just here? No, it's shortened here in the USA too. Although I haven't seen it on tv (durn MTV and their infatuation with Puff Daddy) I have downloaded the .rm. Also, when she sings the song live, she skips that second part; she skipped it on the Rosie O'Donnell show and when I saw her live. Not really sure why. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Feb 1999 10:34:02 EST From: AngelLieb@aol.com Subject: Re: Liz in Toronto, 10/20/98 (Part Two) Wonderful Jase, the list manager, wrote ages ago: "Finally there was a lapse in Bill and Liz's conversation. Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #52 First, I must say that I hate getting stoned. However, I have found myself stoned quite a few times lately. Every time I've been stoned, I come back to my room and read my new digest. Okay admittedly, I have weird reactions when I'm stoned... seemingly opposite to what everyone else experiences. Anyway... reading the digests stoned just FUCKS ME UP. I find myself like making these personality assessments of everyone who posts. Only when i'm stoned do I have insights into who is posting. I don't mean who like in name, I mean the real... "who". Who is behind the posts. it's nuts. Ugh I don't like this post at all, so I'm not going to elaborate anymore. I feel like my writing voice is like... weird... it's like... I sound like a combination of all these people I don't like. Grrrrrrr. I'm turning into a like... casserole of everything I'm against. Just in case no one answers this person's question (since I'm so upset that no one ever answers my questions)... everywhere the version of "Polyester Bride" that goes with the video is edited. As far as "Blood Keeper," not to be confused with "Beverly Keepers", who was the principal of my high school, goes, I think it's a great song, yeah... I'm just not sure that I'm all over it like mr. steve-o. I didn't have the shelved demos or anything prior to now, so I'm really all about "Waiting For the Bird" and "Stuck on an Island" and stuff. "Blood Keeper" is a good song, a great song, but I mean... I'm not FAWNING over it with unparalleled passion. Hmmph. I'm really going now. I'm sick of myself. Later, Nicole ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Feb 1999 17:13:21 EST From: Oh4sythia@aol.com Subject: liz in anthology of sheet music I found a Hal Leonard book of sheet music called _Anthology of Alternative Rock: 34 Artists 34 songs_ copyright 1996. On the cover it lists 7 songs, intended to attract the customer's attention and entice them to buy the book. The fifth song reads: Supernova / Liz Phair. Cool, eh? I suppose they pulled the sheet music from the Whip-smart book. The lyrics go against everything this list has agreed on: "sweet and slippery like a sheriff's bare red ass" (that's not a pretty picture) "your kisses are as wicked as an M sixteen" Oh well. Of course it sounds shitty on the piano, and I can barely play guitar, but I will learn... I will, I will, I.... I like the book though - there are at least eight or ten songs on it that I happen to like: Letters to Cleo's Awake [actually sounds cool on piano], Sponge's Molly, Poe's Trigger Happy Jack [you can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being]. Sarah McLachlan, Elastica, Belly, and other cool people are on it too. It reminds me of my freshman year - it's all the stuff that was on the radio then, or that should have been. AngelLieb@aol.com wrote: "Well, gee....the words did sound kinda harsh." I beg your pardon! How can you possibly see that little joke, which came complete with a disclaimer, as "harsh"? Have we forgotten Peter Washington's 3 Simple Words story? All I was trying to do was hammer home my point that "Blood Keeper" is amazing (the understatement of the month), and that the vast majority of those who've heard it absolutely love it. "For some reason, it just sounded like you were pointing your finger at those who haven't made a decision on which songs are cool and what nots. Soooo.. that puts me into this category." Wrong again. I was only *jokingly* saying that anyone who has heard the song and "hates" it need not bother to say so, because they are 'obviously insane' (again, that's a JOKE). Obviously, anyone who hasn't formed an opinion yet doesn't hate it or love it. Ergo, you do NOT fit into that category. Good god, it was only a joke anyway! "Oh yeah.... and please take into consideration that some people are still waiting to get their cds from Ken." I certainly took that into consideration. If anything, I piqued curiosity, and I see no harm in that. I was careful not to divulge any details or even describe the sound of the song. All I said was that it's amazing. That's not really giving anything away. Would it bother you before you saw a movie to hear how great the movie is, even if no part of the plot is given away? There are those on this list who haven't heard "Carnivore," either (another favorite of mine), but that shouldn't stop me or anyone else from talking about it. "Sorry to vent off, I'm the kind of person who has to let my opinions be heard if I don't like something." Me, too. Katie later wrote: "Well, I was bored and to kill time today, I made a cover for the WCSE Sessions cds Ken's been making for everyone. Sooooo.. I don't mind sending anyone a cover if they're interested." I was actually going to post *almost* the same thing this week, but you beat me to it. Those of you who have your 2-CD set may have noticed Ken was so busy burning a billion CDs that he forget to also make half a billion covers! Although it was nice of Katie to offer to send everyone copies of the cover she made, I was going to suggest to everyone else with the capabilities that they make their own personalized _WCSE Sessions_ cover. This is a chance for everyone to show their creativity! All you need is a computer, a color printer (b&w will do, I suppose), and a Liz photo. You don't even really need to know how to spell! I chose the picture named liz38.jpg from Robbie's site, The Slick Divide, cropped it to CD-cover size, added my own text, and printed it. It looks just as good as other bootleg covers, although I think the photo I chose has just the right 'attitude' to go along with the phony name I gave to the set. That phony name, a combination of various fake titles suggested by the kind folks who frequent #wcse, is _Fuck You, Gary Gersh: Music for the Vacuuming Housewife_. (Those of you who know the "inside" story on the making, rejecting, and re-making of _whitechocolatespaceegg_ should get the joke.) Is it wrong for me to have changed the name on my copy? If it is, I'm sure I'll hear about it. Anyway, it's just my copy. I thought _WCSE Sessions_, the name given to the set by the person(s) who sold it, was a bit dry.
