I emailed Lounge Ax the minute I saw the rumour about the fashion show, so, FWIW: <> ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 12:00:15 -0500 From: Becky Crow Subject: Ben Lee I was travelling last week and therefore was skimming all the digests. Would someone mind revisiting the connection between Liz and Ben Lee. In my head, I connected it with the REM (minus Michael Stipe) playing with Liz thread, but since he is not mentioned on WCSE, I must be mistaken. I'm curious because I saw him open for Cracker last Friday night and in the middle of his set, he burst into an acapella version of "Perfect World." He's no Liz and at times was far from following the true tune (or the proper key), but it was cool to hear someone cover one of her songs. Feel free to email me directly if you don't want to repost what was already said last week. Thanks. "she cries your name" (uk single version) (4:48) and then underneath that, "for promotion only, not for sale." the thing is, the cd isn't a single, it's the entire trailer park cd. i was wondering if this was just some little gimmick that everyone knew about and it's just beth "pretending" like it's a promotional single, or if i got a messed up label printing. andreaa. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 19:43:11 -0600 (CST) From: kenmlee@ix.netcom.com (Kenneth Lee) Subject: Lounge Ax show confirmation Hi everyone, Since I broke the story here, I might as well confirm it as well. Here is an email I received from the Lounge Ax folks today. It basically confirms that Liz will be performing there, and they also explain why there was confusion. Enjoy... - -----Begin Message----- Sorry about the need to send you a rather impersonal mass mailing, but as you can imagine, the interest in the March 14, 1999 Liz Phair show has been rather fervent. The show is for real. This is not an "official" Liz Phair show and her management prefers that we no longer publicize it. Ok, fine. We have removed all mention of the show from our website at their request. Some confusion has swirled around the net, probably because Liz Phair's management was not involved in the booking of this show, and as a result, they were not in any position to give clear answers when asked about it. ADVANCE TICKETS for the March 14 Liz Phair show go on sale AT THE BAR ONLY starting tonight, Thursday, February 18, 1999. Tickets will be sold during bar hours only - starting at 9 PM for $15 each. There will be a limit of two tickets per person. We expect that these tickets will sell out immediately. Liz Phair will play a full solo acoustic set. Sally Timms opens the evening and yes, there will be a fashion show in the middle. We expect this show to sell out immediately so we cannot accomodate any mail-orders, will-calls or other such arrangements. Remember that to get into Lounge Ax, you must be at least 21 years old. You will need to show your ID on the way in. If you ask us to make an exception, you are asking us to risk losing our business. If you need directions please see: http://loungeax.com/directions.html thanks again, sorry about the rumor-mill fiasco and good luck, - ------End Message------ More news on my website... - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 20:53:12 -0500 (EST) From: "Nicole W." Subject: WHOSE FTP SITE? Okay... I know this is a little late, but I decided that I don't want anyone using my handwritten lyrics on any site. Previously, I said just link back to me and give me credit, but I have found the lyrics at an FTP site WITHOUT any credit given to me, so I have decided that it's better if I just dont' let anyone use them. In hindsight, I shouldn't have given permission to use them anyway, cuz I'm selfish and I want them to be mine mine mine because they are. I don't want to share. Anyway, so this ftp site has no immediately apparent owner. The address is 205.251.249.15, port 42696, id: liz, pass: phair. is this yours? Do you know whose it is? if it is yours, e-mail me. If you know whose it is, could you lead me to this person? I won't be mad if I can settle this civilly. It's not like I'm changing any laws if I ask for this to be taken off the site. On I Spy a May Queen, I explicitly asked for a link back to me, and there is nothing of hte sort on thsi ftp site, so the rules have been broken anyway! So please help!!! Even if you don't agree with my selfishness. Hey... Look... I've got to offer something on my site that no one else can offer!! That's the only thing I have going for me. Please don't hate me.
