The categories were, best album, best single and best live performance. LIz was in all 3 categories. She wasnt number one for any of them but she was in the top 10 for all of them. For best album was of course WCSE and for best single it was johnny feelgood and for best performance it was her show on 10/25/98 at the Vic in chicago! I was so proud! I'm brand new to this wonderous list, I'm hoping I can find out a lot more about Miss Liz, as at the moment I know very little!! Unlike many of you, I've got just one Liz CD (Space Egg), which I purchased last year whilst in the US ( I am from Australia). Liz is irtually unknown here in Australia, I've never seen her on TV, heard any of her songs on the radio or seen her name printed anywhere...so I'm all alone down here trying to find her music!! She is apparently touring here though this year, so I guess someone knows who she is eh!? hehehe If anyone out there has any .wav files of any "other" Liz song (as i have not heard ANY that aren't on Space Egg), I would greatly appreciate a few in the mail!! :)) Till next time...cheers matey's!!! ~Stacey - -- - --------------------------------------------------- "We're drifting in the ocean alone now, like a beautiful ship at sea" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 03:07:42 -0600 From: "Jenny Sayler" Subject: spasms I had a funny thought. What if Spasm Girl is like a huge phan and a member of this list. She's out there reading and going like "Oh no!! I didnt know that I can groove to the beat!" Just wanted to add to the comment Suzanne was making about Jewel. Suzanne wrote: <> I am indeed familiar with that song, "Racecar Driver", (have you noticed 'racecar' is one of them rare palindromes?) and although I don't consider myself a fan of Jewel (at least not anymore), that song was one of my favorites. Oh, and I know many people are asking, but I too am desperate for a copy of the Sessions performance. I was out of town and of course missed a rare Liz opportunity (::hangs head in shame::). Well, if there is a willing soul, let me know. Maybe we can work out a 'phair' exchange. Sometimes, Robbie "I ain't no pleasure hound..." McCown "Aren't you the guy who robbed the STORE 24? Oh, to Jason and whoever else is interested in Jen Trynin and/or Aimee Mann... I've been working on several mini-sites that I'm dedicated to some of my favorite artists. So far, I have ones for Jen and Aimee about finished. Basically, it's just a one-page HTML page that describes how I became fans of each artist... However, with the Jen site, I've been unable to fill out any original verbage so I've temporarily transcribed the auto-biography Jen wrote on her own site. In any event, to anyone who's interested, the site addresses are below. Let me know what you guys think. Ok, first off, ----Liz Phest --- to Cynthia, who was talkin' about cheap motels-- I think a campground would be much better venue for several reasons: 1. more intimate- gather round the campfire and groove baby, groove !!! 2. cheap 'motel 6' hotels suck --they are dirty, smelly and a good campground is more comfy 3. LizPhest should be in the country, not in downtown Chicago. Imagine, a beautiful campground on a lake, with birds tweet - tweet- tweeting in the background, the reflection of the sun on the lake and me playing glory and perfect world as the sun sets--- woo hoo, now thats fun!!! 4. more communal/spiritual -- I mean really, is the plan to hang out in a greasy motel and party in a banquet hall??? 5. Cheaper !! Anyways, that is my view now on to other business On the great Mp3 debate I will say only this --- mp3's are to cd's and music what cassette's were to records. Initially thought of as the end of the 'biz', but really causing no great harm. There is no one out there (and you are lying if you havent), who has never copied a friends cd onto tape or made a mixed tape for a party etc.etc. I have downloaded several complete albums including the 4 cd bob marley songs of freedom set and feel no guilt !!! I have over 2 gigs of Mp3's and they simply provide access to bands I might not hear or get into without them. A few bands that I have 'pirated', I have since paid to see concerts and also bought other albums. I agree (sort of) w/the theory that it is not as good to have new albums comin' out and being provided on a server for free. But what really, is the harm in me downloading the bob marley box set??? several of my friends have it anyways, so i could just copy it from them. Ha!!!!! As for Liz, all of her live stuff should be on Mp3, and if I had any Liz bootlegs, I would put them on an Mp3 server for us all to enjoy the day I got them. If anyone has a cd burner and wants to send me any live stuff I have lots of stuff to trade. Or if anyone has cd's and wants info on making Mp3's let me know, cause I am the master. To turn or 'encode' songs into mp3, they must come from cd, well theres always a way but it would be a pain in the arse to do it from tape. Well, I think that is about it, I am freakin cause several people have icq'ed me and that is cool. To MLVC --hey wat up?? I requested you authorize me so I'll see ya out there!!!Right now I have a message waiting from someone and Icq is not working so if you are out there, sorry!!! I had some other stuff to voice my opinion on, but as I'm new to the list I think I will just leave it at that. I have a skill?? to rant and rave about lots of things, but I should be studying now and I am simply procrastinating. well luv to all ----Bryan (icq# 20020500) ------see ya!!! fav liz tune right now (changes hourly, daily, whenever) -- glory--you are you are are shining some!! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 08:50:06 PST From: "miss erin" Subject: Re: Sturday Morning was: The list does indeed rock >>Incidentally, why don't Liz and MI work together more often? i'm not sure if Material Issue is still together, if i remember correctly Jim Ellison commited suicide shortly after Juvenalia was released. Thanks again for the tour Katie! > Liz Phest will happen. > In Chicago. > July 9-10-11, 1999. Yes!!!! This works out perfect for me! 5 days after my 23rd birthday. Man I feel old! We really do need to work out the details though. Like where to stay, exactly what we're going to do, ect..... I volunteer to help with the planning since I live about 1 1/2 hours from Chicago. Have any details been worked out so far? Like I said, I was in Florida, so I'm not sure exactly what has been planned. All I know is the dates. I'll have to do some research to find out some stuff. I let everyone know when I do just that. All I know is that I'm bringing my guitar. Wooohooo! All I can say is Liz is going on tour. Stone Temple Pilots are in the studio working on a new album that will blow everyone out of the water. Liz Phest is coming together. I graduate in 5 months from college. Thank you jase for posting that article about lilith albums in the last digest! I'm excited for the live Lilith cd's now!!! I hope liz will be included in at least ONE track so all of my happiness won't be in vain. I'm guessing that most of the cd will be sarah, jewel, sheryl, paula..... Blah blah blah.... we knew that already! Hopefully sarah's management will be smart enough to include some of the other acts like liz... and maybe, just maybe we will get liz on the "jams and collaborations" cd. I'm also hoping that VH1 will do another lilith fair "behind the music" thingy like they did last time. Any analysts here? Oh yeah...I found it really interesting on how Liz presented the Grammy to Sheryl Crow. Odd or what? And those performances of her on Letterman (Never Said and Supernova?) .....I got easily distracted when the Letterman band was playing along. Grrrrrrrr! Anyways... Hmmmm.. So if everyone would please email me answering the following questions, I will put the info up on my page ASAP: 1. Screen Name (if you have one) 2. Real name 3. Age 4. Hobbies/Interests 5.
