I new to Liz Phair's music, and I listened to WCSE and I liked what I heard, so I subscribed to this list. You may have seen before on the Fumblers (Sarah McLachlan) list, Believers (Chantal Kreviazuk) list or the For Her Children (Natalie Merchant) list. Those are all the other favs of mine. I hope I dont get flammed for this, but I also am an avid Céline Dion fan. As far as the peeps mentioned above, I also like Heather Nova, Autour de Lucie, 10km, Sheryl Crow (just got Globe Sessions, rocks, eh?), and any other Lilith people. Also, I live in Illinois, but I have never seen Liz, but if I ever do, i'll let you know! hehe Besides music, my other hobbies include FRENCH (Quelqu'un ici parles le francais?), wishing I lived in Canada, and making websites. I currently own 3 websites. One on Natalie Merchant, one on me, and one on Céline Dion. If you want the URLs, just email merchnt10k@aol.com Also, I run two webrings: Womyn of Lilith Fair webring (if you own a Liz page or whatnot, feel free to email me for details), and the Power of Céline webring (I doubt that any of you have Céline pages, but if you do email me). I look foward to speaking with other Liz phans on the list, and I hope to hear from all of you soon. Oh and I forgot! Shoutouts to Katie (AngelLieb@aol.com) for making me a Liz phan! Thanks hon and don't forget what I said in the IM! I personally don't like Alanis (and if went to one of those shows, I'd probably leave after Liz played), but the pairing makes commercial sense. I doubt Alanis will ever play Lilith Fair, because she can make more money headlining on her own. But putting two strong female-fronted acts together would recreate the successful Lilith Fair formula. I can understand Liz as an opening act. Despite all the critical allocades, she still hasn't gained wide appeal through sales or touring by herself. Reports of short shows (hour-and-half or less) and stage fright sure didn't help. She will be playing to a larger audience, where she could potentially snag new fans. I'm wondering who suggested it, and how she received it egowise. I can't even say the name because it's so... it's like... sacreligious or something... I don't know. Anyway... I was on the airplane today, reading the trashy chick magazine that I found, Mademoiselle, and I was reading about Christina Ricci, when I found this quote: "Tonight, America's furious teen angel is fluttering around the kitchen of the rented Hollywood Hills home she shares with her 27-year-old actor boyfreind, Matthew Frauman. She's barefoot, humming along to Liz Phair, whipping up a sophisticated... meal" Just thought i'd share it. I think Christina Ricci is kind of cool, and that just makes her seem a bit cooler even.
