It's not that I don't want them, it's just that to really get into vinyl and get a good collection going it takes a good hit on the pocket book. I think my CD collection is already doing enough damge there, so...if anybody wants them, let me know. They are still unwrapped and everything, and I also have the 7' PB single with Greased Lightning on the other side that I'm willing ot throw in as well. So if you're interested email me privately and we can work something out. JASE---tell the rest of your story DAMMIT!! I hope everybody makes it through finals (myself included)...just think, it will all be over soon and then we can PARTY like rock stars!! Black market White Baby Dealer is so based on "My Bonny" a song from the 1920's or 1930's that i think the beatles may have done at some point. when liz sings "clean fresh white babies for me" it is to the tune of "bring back my bonny to me". ummmmm, ok bye KB ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Dec 1998 07:22:24 -0800 From: Beau Subject: Lyric question about "Girls' Room" Anyone got a feeling/idea why all the women named in "The Girls' Room" have names starting with "T?" Is this just a fun affectation, or is there something symbollic in it? Love the song, but I've always wondered about it. (And do women really criticize each other's bikini lines?) I love how Liz uses all those references in her songs. That's it. Nothing much. I liked the book a lot, but there was not much stuff about liz in there. Camden Joy does offer some analysis of Liz's lyrics. These sections were very interesting, but sometimes, I really disagreed with how he was interpreting the lyrics, and that really bothered me. But I liked the book because it was like the guys life was just spiraling out of control. I'd recommend it. And somebody asked when liz is going to be on Sessions, and its the Jan. 2/3, depending on your local listings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jenny "All the fear has left me now, I'm not frightened anymore" - Sarah McLachlan- http://www.liz-phair.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Dec 1998 13:55:33 -0800 (PST) From: Stacey Miller Subject: information for anyone who gives a shit When I met Liz in Cleveland when she played at the Odeon, I acquired some information that I thought I'd share. My friend Kristie, who goes to Oberlin, was with me and they were chatting about Liz's alma mater. Kristie was asking her where she lived while she went to Oberlin. Liz told us her freshman year she lived in Barrows Hall and her sophmore year she lived in Dascomb Hall, which she continued to say was what made her drop out!! But then she said that she was "the Blue House Queen for awhile" which is a co-op house at Oberlin which is basically like a shrine to liz (or so I have heard). Well, just thought I'd share. Have a nice week. - --Stacey _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? I was lucky enough to have some of my friends have some and they all liked it. One suggested that I melt the white chocolate chips and use it as a glaze for the cookies. Taking this into consideration, I went home and tried it. Good advice! It gives you more chocolate flavor. mmmmmm! The funniest thing she said about the cookies were, "It tastes good, but I'm not getting enough whitechocolate, but there's too much spaceeggs in there." hehe! Just thought of letting everyone know that I'll be going back to the recipe and change things around a little bit. Will keep everyone informed. So....just thought of something, are we doing this card thing for Liz or no? Just curious cuz I came up with a better idea and introduced it to Jase, but haven't heard from him. I hope he's doing ok. Oh well, just felt like sharing this really cool Liz dream I had a few nights ago. I finally get to see Liz in concert in Florida and out of no where, between the songs, Liz asks the audience, "Is there a Katie in the audience tonight?" Now, wouldn't this be kinda strange and imagine all the people in the audience and I just happened to be the ONLY Katie there. I yelled, "I'M KATIE!" Liz looks in my direction and smiles, walks over to me and hands me a backstage pass. She said to me, "I'd like to see you after the show." That was it.....now....what does this mean?! Okay, one last time to get anyone who hasn't contributed yet to do so now, as the deadline approaches (Monday, December 14). We're up to $1125 as of today (Wednesday, December 9). Just need to raise approximately $175 more... So here's my original message one last time: Hey everyone, I have a chance of obtaining 7(!) cassettes worth of Liz Phair demos and outtakes but I really need the help of everyone who is on this list. The person offering these tapes is asking for a lot of money (if you want to know, it's $1300!). So I am asking if each and everyone of you on the list could contribute $2 each. I could purchase these tapes, and in turn I will give everyone in return a copy of all the tapes! Would everyone here be willing to do this? I will put up the rest of the money. I have until December 1st to do this. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't want these tapes to fall in the wrong hands. I would rather that everyone get to hear Liz's work in progress for a mere $2 rather than have some bootlegger charge $25 per CD for the material. Or worse yet have someone get the tapes and sit on them forever... :( Normally I wouldn't do something like this, but I can't afford to purchase these tapes alone. I need your help. I had reservations about asking, but I asked Jase, our esteemed list owner, and he said this idea is okay with him. If you need some more incentive, here's what I have been offered: - -----Original Message----- ken, hello I have bunch of Liz Phair tapes you might want...there from the space egg demos. My old roomates played on the record (jaison chasko, stoley) and left a bunch of original studio tapes from Trax recording studios when they left. special bonus cassette of Liz and Scott Litt (producer) alone in studio. This is A one time deal, Im not going to put these out otherwise...heres your chance to be the only person in the whole fuckin world to have these tapes... seven tapes total. as for songs, what makes you happy demo what makes you happy rough mix blood keeper big tall man bars of the bed demo rough mix of entire record on one tape plus dont forget the tape of her and scott that takes up about 50 minutes. - -----End of Original Message----- I hope you are all willing to contribute. It would be a very nice Christmas present for Liz phans everywhere. :) If you have any questions about this, you can email me at: kenmlee@ix.netcom.com Feel free to express your concerns over the matter... If you want to help me get these tapes, send $2 (in cash, if possible) to: Kenneth Lee P.O.
