So, the Dallas Morning News guy rips Liz and Lucinda Williams in the same article. Obviously, I won't be inviting that guy to listen to CDs at my house anytime soon. Anyway, thought people might be interested to know that the Liberty Lunch -- my personal favorite club on the face of the Earth and the site of Liz's long-ago South by Southwest show -- is closing down. Heard from a buddy of mine in Austin. Don't know when, but its soon and its being replaced by a computer store (gasp!). Anyway, just a little of bit of Liz history going by the wayside. Truly sucks... Matt Schulz The Glory of Liz Phair http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Frontrow/5064/index.html _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? JENNY WAS DRUNK FOR HER SECOND POST!! Sorry. I'm just jealous, is all. Anyway... Other songs where Liz has borrowed stuff... "Whip-Smart," from the malcolm mclaren song, "Chopsticks," from the first song that everyone ever learns on piano, ummm... i'm sure there's more, but my stomach hurts cuz i just ate a butterfinger. I can't think. And I feel pukey. Uh oh. Anyway... oh yes... "South Dakota" is like an Iggy Pop song or something, someone was talking about umm... some song on wcse... but i don't remember which one, and what it's like. Oh well. As far as Liz borrowing from other songs, it is done heavily in the Girlysounds (as Ruthie was kind enough to reintroduce me too). I'd say that about a quarter of the songs have at least a line or two borrowed from somebody else. It's interesting to think that she may be coming around full-circle. So this brings up a possible thread. It is similar to the dream setlist but what song would you most like Liz to cover? I have to say that I don't have a definite answer to this myself but I would love to hear her do anything by Leonard Cohen. Maybe "Suzanne" or "Chelsea Hotel." Take care, Gabriel _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? This question goes out to anyone who lives in Florida. Does anyone know if there will be ANY good concerts in the central-Florida area between January 7-15? I want to know because I am traveling half-way across the country from Milwaukee, WI to the Orlando area to see Extreme Championship Wrestling. Don't laugh. Anyone who has ever seen ECW knows why I would travel that far just to see it. For anyone who says wrestling is so fake, watch ECW and you will see the most blood and violence ridden promotion in the US. Sorry, I guess it's a guy thing! But anyways, if anyone knows of any concerts beween Jan. 7-15, please let me know as i am DYING to go to a good concert. I'd go to Ticketmaster.com, but they aren't always the most up-to-date. And maybe someone who lives there has heard something an the radio or something. Thanks alot, Craig "The KingAdRock" "I'm the whole F'N show" - ECW's Rob Van Dam "Liz is the whole F'N show" - The KingAdRock _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? I just have a quick question that I was hoping someone out there could help me with. I have a copy of a Liz interview and a couple of songs on a radio show called On The Edge, I think. The songs they play are Supernova, an excerpt from Never Said, Whip-Smart, Hurricane Cindy, and Beginning To See The Light. Can anyone tell me the date this show was aired. It would help me out a lot. Thanks. KOA. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V1 #103 ************************************
