The DuoSonic (antique white-ish w/ red inlay) was used in the tour and "Never Said" video for Exile In Guyville (you can see it in the liner notes, too), and the Musicmaster (red w/ pearl white inlay) was "introduced" circa 1994, for Whip-Smart, although Liz says she's had both guitars forever. The Duo Sonic has lots of gashes on it, while the Musicmaster seems to be in better condition. She also has a pre-CBS Stratocaster, circa 1958, but I've never seen it. As for acoustics, I know she has several (of course), but one of them is a Taylor she bought specially for her 1994 radio station tour for initial promotion of Whip Smart. Random responses follow: Cynthia Nagle, you're wonderful. Melissa in Buffalo -- you should post more often. The _FanPhair_ CD/tape (I think it's a CD) was started long ago and you can view the progress at the guyville mailing list site: members.aol.com/guyville ... Contributions a few years ago included a spoken-word cover of "Alice Springs," a full-band interpretation of "Pay You Back," and a guitar version of the written-for-piano "Canary" -- if I remember correctly. Sound clips are available. You Boston show-goers are getting me excited. Love the stories. The Support System digest v100 was *really* nothing to get all excited about. Jason has been running this list for a long, long time, and in his estimation, there have actually been around 650 digests sent out. The Support System set-up is brand new, comparatively, but it's loaded with people who've been around since the 6'1" list's start a few years ago. A 100th Support System digest isn't really great; in fact, I'd liken it to Rush Limbaugh's famous '# Of Days America Has Been Held Hostage by Clinton' thing he did before his wonderful show was cancelled. Moderated lists are much better (see: MEfest/wendy's posts, the "unsubscribe" messages, the flames, and general clutter), and soon enough Jason will begin a moderated list again, just like the 6'1" digest that "old-school" posters are familiar with. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but really... If you newcomers only knew how good it was. Not that this isn't good, but 6'1" was great. Please be advised that I'm not the only one who feels this way, either. And, assuming I get it, I will >pass it on to all who ask for it. And then when it fills up, neato! Actually, just to clear a few things up here, a single tape was never passed around for people to record covers on. Instead, Derek (Dermich@aol.com) was collecting any covers anyone wished to submit and he was going to work on compiling them all and putting together a master copy. Once the tape was completed, we had planned to distribute it via a tape tree on the list so that everyone could get a copy of it if they wished to. The idea for the tape first originated on the Guyville list a few years ago, then moved over to this list (in its 6'1" incarnation) after I started it. I'm not sure how many covers were submitted, and there have been attempts to resurrect this in the past, but I personally would love to see this get going again. It seems like we have many more musicians on the list now than in the past, so I'm sure we could come up with a tape's worth of covers quite easily. Derek, would you mind posting which covers you've already received, so that people will know which songs have already been taken? Are you still up for organizing all of this? I can't stress enough how excited I'd be to see this get underway again. It's really a great idea, and when the tape is finished, I can work on getting a copy of it to Liz, if everyone wishes me to. Let's try to get this going again. I'm sorry, but I think there seems to be a bit of confusion here, most likely from a recent post of mine. There are no upcoming Chicago shows, but there is an upcoming tape or CD-R tree to distribute the three Chicago shows from October on the list. I'm guessing that this is where the confusion lies; hope this clears everything up.
