I hate it when I forget what I was going to write. nevermind. I forgot what I was going to say. I wonder how much it costs to get your own domain name? Any idea? My mom is in need of gifts to get me for xmas and all, and I was reading the digest, and it just never occurred to me to ask for that! I know there's advertisements all over the internet for free domain names and shite, but does anyone know the best deal? I just did something... weird... and a liz lyric popped in my head but now I forget what it was. Well there was one obvious one that was runnin' through my head a few minutes ago, but I'm not going to say it cuz everyone will think i'm really fucked up (which i am, but i just don't want it to be so so blatantly obvious). AAAAAAAAH I'm being so dumb! I was going to go to bed early so that tomorrow in between classes i would do work instead of nap, but now it's 2:12 am and I have to wake up in 5.5 hours, and I will take a nap tomorrow so as to be refreshed for the concert. FUCK! Okay I shall stop rambling. bye. - -Nicole http://www.angelfire.com/ca/DontWalk I Spy a May Queen ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Nov 1998 20:01:21 -0600 From: Kaufmann@IPFW.EDU (Kaufmann,Mike) Subject: cancellations I've felt the same thing, especially when the rescheduled dates were cancelled. It may be some problem between Liz and her management, but the persistent nature of the problem (i.e., her cancelled tour in support of whipsmart, the delays of album release, and the latest) suggests some part of it has to be with liz herself. All of which exudes an unprofessional air at best, and spoiled rich dilettante at worst--unfair perhaps but still hard to avoid. Maybe it's just something in her that wants to please people, but then and equal desire to please herself (and family) that causes this tug of war in scheduling and cancellation. She'd definitely make more friends if she didn't promise more than she's willing to deliver--or get whoever's making the promises for her to quit making them. I don't think it's a question of what she "owes" her phans, just a question of making (or not making) commitments and keeping them. Since it's not the first time, I'd say something more is going on then simply miscommunication. But ya, like Fran, I still think our phair heroine is great--but then I didn't get burned on the recent cancellations. FRAN wrote: Despite how awesome Liz is, the management of this tour has been a bit of a disgrace, as was the release of Juvenalia and WCSE. she seems to have no regard for published dates and relativley little explanation as to why these scheduling snafus take place. i think that announcing dates just to end up cancelling them two weeks later is sort of irresponsible and Derek wrote: Being an aspiring musician myself, I'm always pretty upset when I see an artist who is signed and has tons of label support, but who then doesn't give much back to the fans. I do indeed understand wanting to be home for the holidays, but if she's made this career choice, she should be really, really careful not to do too much of this kind of thing. And, well, with the past 4 years of abortive announcements and almost-releases and almost-shows, I really do kind of think she owes us a little more. Not in a friendship kind of way or anything, but she should understand that even we diehard Liz fans can get fed up eventually. A recording artist owes her livelyhood to her fans, and she owes them at least something, or she can expect it all to go away. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 11:31:52 -0500 (EST) From: Nicole Weisberg Subject: Just want to clear Robbie's name now Okay... my "open letter to robbie" the other day worked. He finally wrote me. So I just wanted to clear his name now, in case people were like "what a jerk! He's not writing Nicole?!" Turns out he was just LAZY! ;) Okay. Well... I hope I get into the show tonight. See y'all later. - -Nicole I Spy a May Queen http://www.angelfire.com/ca/DontWalk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 12:01:21 -0400 From: "Ken \"Babyface\" Rogers" Subject: Jase, don't overdo it RE the "Long Apologia" for all the concert date cancellations and resultant confusion... posted in SS#95... While I'm all for artists and celebs vigorously defending their rights to have "real lives"(lest they end up like the Stones... out of touch - -bitching about the high life for most of the last twenty years), they are ultimately responsible for what's done in their name. Liz is on record saying that she's into developing the "product" that is her, right? Well, clear communication and checking up on stuff is most of what that's about(I know this, cause I've been doing it for two micro-celebs for many years now). So instead of providing a lengthy list of excuses as to why fans should get their hopes dashed for not-to-clear reasons, lets help Lizzie and those fans by admitting that, unfortunately, the Liz Phair product pushing machine fucked up. She's very bright and not thin-skinned. She can take it. So can we. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 14:24:31 -0500 From: Megan Brown Subject: erecting a moviestar sorry if this has already been talked about, but i just wanted to share that liz's song, "erecting a moviestar" (on a soundtrack by shudder to think) kicks ass. i've had it on repeat and i can't get enough. damn. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 15:34:39 EST From: AngelLieb@aol.com Subject: A phan in the works Hmmm digest number 98 right? She also likes Fuck and Run, but her mother went nuts to hear what her daughter was listening to. oopsie! Sigh...hopefully she'll get a Liz cd for Hanukah. Why do I always see unknown bands on 120 Minutes with great videos but our Liz always has these cheap, flimsy things? Unfortunatly, music today states that to have a hit song means to have a hit video, and Liz has gotta do that. Look at Supernova, which was cool and accesible. Somebody has got to give Liz the phone number of Mark Romanek or the Ray of Light guy. Matador is so eager to sell the shit out of Liz, but they never cash in on the video department. Polyester Bride was released, what, 3 weeks after WCSE came out! No wonder the song failed! Johnny Feelgood is a good song - now get Liz a good video!!!! I just came up with a definition for whitechocolatespaceegg. Very interesting I think. whitechocolatespaceegg (n.) (sorry, I ain't doing the pronunciation!) All you have to do is look up at the sky and you'll see the moon, there's your whitechocolatespaceegg! Whitechocolate would describe the yummy taste if it was edible. Spaceegg, um....it's up in space and is shaped like an egg. What does everyone think? I'm thinking of coming up with a dictionary of definitions. Just out of boredom I guess.
