I'm not sure if there are still tickets available or not, but in case you haven't bought yours yet, it would help me out to get rid of mine. Please E-mail me privately and we can arrange something. I totally and completely agree. I have almost never listened to these horrible things, ever since I finally got them, many months after paying for them. Hiss is much preferable to poorly-done digital noise-reduction. I, however, am lucky to have tapes of the same generation as Jase's. Really and truly, I plan on some day doing a proper job at brushing these babies up. Honestly, I'm gonna do it. I do understand how the ebb and flow of getting a tour together works, and I understand about miscommunication. However, I'm also more than a little peeved from time to time at Liz's strange career choices. Being an aspiring musician myself, I'm always pretty upset when I see an artist who is signed and has tons of label support, but who then doesn't give much back to the fans. I do indeed understand wanting to be home for the holidays, but if she's made this career choice, she should be really, really careful not to do too much of this kind of thing. And, well, with the past 4 years of abortive announcements and almost-releases and almost-shows, I really do kind of think she owes us a little more. Not in a friendship kind of way or anything, but she should understand that even we diehard Liz fans can get fed up eventually. A recording artist owes her livelyhood to her fans, and she owes them at least something, or she can expect it all to go away. Sorry, but I'm more than a little peeved at all the frustrations lately. I know Liz never really pursued this like a lot of us have, but that makes it somehow more upsetting. When I think of how little support Jen Trynin has gotten, and how much she gave to the fans (for any of you who have seen her live), and how hard I'm trying just to get someone at a label to listen to my CD, it makes me even crabbier. OK, sorry to be kinda down. I'm rarely like this. Derek ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 18:44:46 -0600 From: Kaufmann@IPFW.EDU (Kaufmann,Mike) Subject: new single I agree completely. Johnny Feelgood, a good song itself, would be great for reconnecting or introducing Liz to those who vaguely know of her. The critics could have hooked into (and hopefully may when it's released) her "old" controversial self and helped pull everyone into where she is now, while getting people to discover exile and whipsmart. I imagine there may be some controversy over misinterpretation of the lyrics, which might have been what squelched it as the first single in the beginning, but I think it can only help Liz if that does happen. Controversy didn't hurt her none the first time around, and probably would be even better--knowing what she knows now about handling it--this time. Mike Jase wrote: Personally, I think this a great choice. "Johnny Feelgood" was originally supposed to have been the first single from the record, and I do wonder if the album would have fared better had they stuck with this decision. "Polyester Bride" is a great song, but for some reason I just think that "Johnny Feelgood" would have gotten more airplay and more of a response. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 22:03:33 -0500 From: "Nicole W." Nothing's worse than a friend that just STOPS talking to you for no reason. or writing, in this case. It really upsets me. You know I value you and your opinions, and for you to just... dis me like this... hurts! I mean, I know you don't essentially know me, but... well... I thought we were cool or something. WHAT'S UP?? You're making a girl really sad. Cuz you do n't know what I'm going through in "real" life now. it's parallel, and I'm really hurting. Subject: The Boston shows... I would definitely like to meet up with some fellow fans before either/both of these shows. Actually especially the Monday night show cuz I think I'm going there solo, which really sucks. I know someone has been posting about it. I just don't remember who and I'm too lazy to go through the archives of digests. Anyway... So it would be nice to meet people. Then again, what if some psychotic person is reading this list, and responds to this, and says "let's meet in a dark alley," and I'm like "that's odd, but okay." And then I get killed?! Uh oh. Maybe I should re think. Hmm. Yeah so... yeah. Hmmmm. I was looking through The Rolling Stones discography out of boredom (as usual). Flowers, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, Goat's Head Soup, Emotional Rescue. See anything similar? Quite interesting don't you think? I'm curious to know their version of Emotional Rescue is like. Just curious, did anyone get a postcard from Matador Records with a listing of all of their artists' tour dates, including Liz? It read on the postcard the dates were as of 11/10, so they had some of Liz's dates down. So, I guess I'm some kind of mailing list for them or something. One thing I did take note of is that no one is coming down to FL, of course. Oh well, I guess Mickey Mouse is scaring everybody or something. Maybe Josh and I could build some big mouse trap for him (that annoying high pitched mouse) or something. That would be a lot of fun. Now, I have this quote from a poem a friend of mine wrote for me. It's so cute and I asked her if I could share it with everyone on this list, but she wasn't quite sure. So, I'm just sharing the most interesting line she wrote. "You are my white chocolate space egg." Isn't that cute?! I've obviously been raving about Liz enough to the point where my friends call me a Liz phanatic. I hope no one was out shopping for the infamous Furby thing yesterday. What is so great about this toy anyway? I heard it speaks gibberish at first and then you can teach it speak English. Well, here's my funny Liz thought: teach it to sing Fuck and Run or some really funny song! Geez! Enough ideas coming from me or what?! I think it would be cool to find a Furby on the shelves in the store and teach it to say "And you fuck like a volcano." Boy, parents are going to be screaming hell if they find out if their Furby says that! Oh well, the most wanted toy this year for the holidays. I still need to find my big tall man on my page. hmmmm... I've been listening to a bunch of tapes I have and noticed a few things. I know this topic is quite old, confused lyrics. I swear I heard Liz say "cherub's bare wet ass" at one show but then I heard "red ass" at another. What?! Very interesting on how musicians play around with their lyrics. I'm still getting crown or clown in WCSE. And yes, my stupid ears are playing tricks on me and I still hear Potty-ester Bride half the time. Dang! I think I need to lay off on the sugar or something!
