A full Girlysound collection would contain 32 tracks, along with a snippet of Odetta's "Red Ruby Lips" that Liz included on the original tapes. I already stated that I would not condone the sale of bootlegs on this list earlier this week, after another post in which this guy offered to sell list members bootleg CDs. Does this loser even read the digests at all, or does he just post his advertisements? Do not buy ANYTHING from this guy -- he is selling these bootlegs for $25 each, ripping off both Liz and her fans in the process. If you really feel that you need a copy of the Girlysounds, I'd be more than happy to make tape copies for anyone who is interested, as long as you provide the blank tapes and return postage. If you're after CD copies, just ask on the list. I'm sure someone will help you out and burn you a set, without it costing you anything but, again, blanks and postage. People have offered in the past to burn CDs for other list members at no additional cost; I'm sure there are still people willing to do this now. Whatever you do, just don't support this guy who is making money off of Liz's work and ripping off his fellow fans (if he even is a fan; it's hard to tell, he doesn't seem all that knowledgeable about her music). Hey everyone, I have a chance of obtaining 7(!) cassettes worth of Liz Phair demos and outtakes but I really need the help of everyone who is on this list. The person offering these tapes is asking for a lot of money (if you want to know, it's $1250+!). So I am asking if each and everyone of you on the list could contribute $2 each. I could purchase these tapes, and in turn I will give everyone in return a copy of all the tapes! Would everyone here be willing to do this? I will put up the rest of the money. I have until December 1st to do this. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't want these tapes to fall in the wrong hands. I would rather that everyone get to hear Liz's work in progress for a mere $2 rather than have some bootlegger charge $25 per CD for the material. Or worse yet have someone get the tapes and sit on them forever... :( Normally I wouldn't do something like this, but I can't afford to purchase these tapes alone. I need your help.
