I burst out crying, but I've >since gotten over it. I am sorry to hear that. you might kick yourself after reading this, but this absolutely made my weekend... I left right after the performance and thought later, "I can't give up yet!" (what the hell am I carrying these CDs in my pocket for?!) so I walked back to roseland around 11:00p and waited outside the doors for a while hoping to catch liz. saw a bunch of people hanging around outside, and this one girl tried to get the promo poster in the glass case (no luck). found out that there was some sort of private party going on but couldn't for the life of me figure out how I was going to get in. then I thought, "what the hell. worst they can do is ask me to leave" so I walked up to the mezzanine entrance, and the guy manning the door asks me if I have a mezzanine pass, and of course, all I have is my regular ticket, which I present to him pathetically. "ah, go on ahead." aaaaiiieeeee!!! my heart was racing as I ascended the stairs, and at first, I saw just a bunch of people standing around. shortly after, I caught a glimpse of liz and became just giddy with excitement. as someone else mentioned, winona ryder was there, and I'm pretty sure I heard liz say something like "you are SO cute!" while hugging her, which I found hilarious. finally, I get to meet liz, and I mention that I'd flown in from denver to see her, and she says, "I hope you aren't jetlagged!" she was sooo awesome and after signing my CDs, someone else grabbed her attention, and I left so deliriously happy. just wish I'd brought my camera. - -drew ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 01:57:56 -0700 From: "Colin O'Connor" Subject: Easy >>Liz has this great story about an old >>beau: >>"a boyfriend who dropped me for his previous girlfriend came slithering >>back once. I was wondering if anyone had a feeling where you felt like running to the stage to give Liz a hug when she rested her head on Rosie's shoulder? I thought that was a cute picture. I kept reminding a bunch of my friends about this appearance and one said she got to watch it and it was her first time seeing who Liz was all about. Here goes: - ----------- "Cool, Tall, Vulnerable, and Unruly" Moments before Liz Phair hit the 9:30 Club stage last Monday night, a club employee ran outside and breathlessly confronted a quartet of Liz wannabes. "Do you guys have any barrettes or bobby pins?" he asked with urgency. After much purse searching and hair pulling, the klatch produced enough hair clamps to secure the star's wanton coif in place. - ----------- Hey, by the way... With Liz's whole motherhood thing Rosie's a natural. I thought the interview went well, though I wonder about nonlizophiles reaction to the dream story. She may have come off as very unchicago and very newagey california (though that probably fits winnetka). Still she was very comfortable and cute. My favorite moment was when Rosie came up after the song and as they went to break Liz put her had on Rosie's shoulder. I suspect there's a connection of sorts between them, whether spoken or not, with their "motherless" status. I know Liz downplays her adoption, but I can't believe it's not crossed her mind in some way since her son's birth. Anyway, a sweet moment. YES. I heard "Think too hard" on the radio a couple of weeks ago and it sounded awesome. That album "Surprise" was great, the rest of her stuff hasn't grabbed me as much though, great voice though. It's worth checking out the inner sleeve of that album and comparing it to the Garbage debut inner sleeve. Shirley Manson you should be ashamed, what a rip off! Also on the subject of great girl vocals... Anyone like Weeping Tile? They're from Ontario and i know their stuff is hard to get south of the (your) border. It's well worth checking out, they've had 2 albums "Cold Snap" & "Valentino" and 1 EP "Eepee". I'd go for "cold snap" but feel free to disagree. Just heard "Headache" on the radio in London and they announced that Liz is coming over about the time of it's UK release (Feb '99). Not long now!
