First, the penultimate episode. Jasmine's demise, and the end of her reign over mankind seemed rather deus-ex-machina to me. I don't know, it just seemed to all get wrapped up way too quickly and neatly, considering how long it took for everything to build up to that point. If Connor was capable of killing Jasmine with a mere punch through the head, why didn't he do it before? (Moreover, *how* was he capable of doing that?) (Any fellow _Miracles_-watchers catch the reference in this episode?) I'd stumbled across quotes from ME folk saying that the finale "takes the show in an entirely different direction", but this is hardly what I'd expected!! What a morally ambiguous end to the season. Was the price of "world peace" really so high that it justified ending it? And can they really use Wolfram & Hart for good instead of evil? (What is Cordelia going to say when she wakes up? I can only imagine.) I liked the subtle tie-in with Angel's appearance on _Buffy_ next week. It's good to know that he's got a reason for going to Sunnydale, and won't be showing up just because. For the second season in a row, Cordelia ends up offstage for the end of it. I wonder what Charisma Carpenter thinks of that situation -- though this year I'm sure it had to do more with maternity leave than anything else. And finally ... yay, Connor is finally gone!!! I'm glad he ended up in a good situation, though. As annoying as he was, it wouldn't have been good if Angel had killed him (or if he'd killed himself). Again, I hope this was just a season finale and not a series finale. Though either way, Tim Minear won't be back next year. He's got a new show to run on Fox, called "Wonder Falls", about a young woman who has visions. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V5 #81 ****************************
