Greenwalt is reportedly already back at work in the Mutant Enemy offices, sketching out the 5th season of _Angel_ (which while not yet officially renewed, is apparently on strong enough footing so that they are already working on the next season). _Miracles_ was really, really good. So of *course* it had to go. Feh. :P More _Buffy_ finale/_Angel_ season 5 news here (spoilerish): http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=14862 =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Sloan Wainwright, 4/13 =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Apr 2003 17:28:48 -0800 From: "Berni Phillips" Subject: Re: a/david greenwalt back at ANGEL From: "meredith" > Since the television gods are dead (or just terminally stupid), the show > for which David Greenwalt left _Angel_, ABC's _Miracles_ has been cancelled > after just 6 episodes. Not just 6 episodes (not which all have aired yet), but 6 episodes which were only shown sporadically with weeks inbetween. I don't know how many times TV Guide had "postponed from an earlier date" on the synopsis of the episodes. How could they expect the show to develop a following when they jerked it around so badly? > _Miracles_ was really, really good. So of *course* it had to go. Feh. :P I confess it has grown on me. I had a lot of issues with the first episode. Their having Callen being a priest was really not necessary, and in subsequent episodes, he seems to have forgotten he was one. Priests are priests forever, even if they're defrocked or walk away. There are established habits of prayer and certain attitudes that Callen just does not exhibit, which I attribute to poor writing and direction. Better to have never brought it up than to have forgotten it. The back story was just starting to get interesting, though. We learned last week SPOILER SPACE that these other people who saw "God is nowhere" written in their blood also dreamed of Callen, repeatedly. He is some sort of player or at least a major pawn in coming events. Too bad we're not going to get to see them. Which makes no sense to me whatsoever -- why put in the $ to put a show on the air, when all you're going to do is screw it over once it gets there?? But that's one of the great mysteries of television, I suppose. >I confess it has grown on me. Better to have >never brought it up than to have forgotten it. Hmmm... that never bothered me, but then I normally don't notice things like that. Plus, I know some former priests who don't act any more or less priest-like than anyone who was never a priest, so his behavior never struck me as off. Too bad we can no longer even fleetingly hope that SciFi will save a show like this. I saw SciFi's development slate for the coming season, and I had to triple-check to make sure it wasn't an April Fool's joke (sadly, it proved to be authentic).
