If this was the original pilot, I find it hard to think that it didn't have enough action! I really liked seeing Shepherd Book coming aboard and the crew's first reactions to him. Well done as well was his sharing with Innara towards the end regarding his qualms about being aboard the right ship. I hope another network picks up the show so we can find out more about Book. He says here that he's been in an abbey for some years. I would presume therefore that he's Roman Catholic (or a very close off-shoot of that, perhaps a future one). In the episode where he was shot and taken to an Alliance hospital, we know he must have been a person of importance before he entered religious life. Perhaps he's related to someone very high in the Alliance. I also thought we saw a very different slant on Innara's life than is usually shown. In most episodes, it seems like everyone but the captain holds her in high esteem and that her profession is a highly desirable one. In this episode, everyone called her the Ambassador, which was kind of rude. Extremely rude was her john, when she made the flattering comment "The time went by much too swiftly," and he replied something like, "You people rig the clocks so we get cheated, don't you?" This was such a slap in the face! Innara looked very lonely through most of the episode, I thought, yet she was always there to help, shedding part of her outfit, when there was trouble. So, Santa, I would like more episodes of this show for next year. And I want more background on Book and more evidence of River's abilities, both natural and Alliance-enhanced. And thanks for the kitty! Berni ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V4 #183 *****************************
