While I wanted Anya to follow Xander, I concluded from her hesitation then deliberation in going the opposite way that she was going to seek out her own path instead of just falling into things and clinging to whatever was handy, as she said she had always done. > There was all sorts of continuity in this episode. The way Willow has been made up season after season goes right along with what's happening with the character. Being home sick today, I re-watched the first two episodes from season 5. Happy, confident Willow in love with Tara wears graceful, flowing clothes and a rather glamorous make-up: shiny eye shadow, mascara, a nice foundation. Rehab Willow that we have now is bare faced with her hair pulled back. (What was with D'Hoffyn's "Have you done something with your hair?") It's a "naked and raw" look, much more so than geeky season 1 Willow ever had. > I'm not sure > whether or not I agree with Buffy's "I am the law" declaration... I think that in the context of all things demony, I agree with her totally. What could the police or judicial system do with vengeance demons and vampires and all the other things which haunt Sunnydale? Hi, Joe explained: >Working from the syllable "yank" in "Anyanka" to the syllable "Jenk" in >"Jenkins". Oh, now I see. I'm brain dead this week. :} Berni responded: >While I wanted Anya to follow Xander, I concluded from her hesitation then >deliberation in going the opposite way that she was going to seek out her >own path instead of just falling into things and clinging to whatever was >handy, as she said she had always done. Excellent point. I hadn't thought of this, but it makes sense. >I thought she was packing up her stuff, which was at Buffy's house, in >preparation for moving back to the dorm. I thought so too, but then it looked like she was putting things into drawers, instead of taking them out. Or am I just hallucinating again? >Good costume designer. Good make-up person, too. The way Willow has been >made up season after season goes right along with what's happening with the >character. I hadn't noticed this either -- but then, costumes and makeup aren't meant to jump out at you unless they're *supposed* to. >Rehab Willow that we have now is bare faced with her hair >pulled back. (What was with D'Hoffyn's "Have you done something with your >hair?") It's a "naked and raw" look, much more so than geeky season 1 >Willow ever had. And Alyson Hannigan still manages to look stunning no matter what. Some people just have that gift ... I'm reminded of Lucy Lawless, who proved through the course of _Xena_ that yes, she does indeed look good dressed in just a burlap sack! >I think that in the context of all things demony, I agree with her totally. >What could the police or judicial system do with vengeance demons and >vampires and all the other things which haunt Sunnydale? Point. The declaration just seemed a bit ... unilateral to me. I guess it sounded a bit odd because previously, Giles has been the one making the declarations about what a Slayer is supposed to do. I'm not yet used to hearing Buffy do it -- she resisted being the Slayer for so long, it's kind of strange to hear her acknowledge her responsibilities without railing against them in the same breath. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 19:34:53 -0700 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Re: b/ Aud Sang Lines... I think that, at least to some extent, Buffy accepted herself fully as the Slayer when she took the dive at the end of Season Five. I suspect, however, that there's more to play out as to the source of Slayers' power. - -- | josephzitt@josephzitt.com http://www.josephzitt.com/ | | http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt/ http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt/ | | GPG: A4224EFA 558B 4948 3D8A F338 5B2E DA4D 40EF 8290 A422 4EFA | | == New book: Surprise Me with Beauty: the Music of Human Systems == | | Comma / Gray Code Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 19:53:59 -0700 (PDT) From: Todd Huff Subject: Re: b/ Aud Sang Lines... > I think that, at least to some extent, Buffy > accepted herself fully as > the Slayer when she took the dive at the end of > Season Five. I'd point to the end of "Checkpoint" she takes charge and lets the Watcher's Council know that she would be giving the orders now and they'd just support her. She talked about having "the power" then, too. Hmm. Y!
