And I just heard that the cd of the music of Once More With Feeling is out. Got a rave review. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 23:24:16 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: SMG on SNL Hi, Marty noted: >And I just heard that the cd of the music of Once More With Feeling is out. >Got a rave review. It is indeed! It came out on Tuesday, and my pre-order from Rounder Records arrived on Monday. Gotta love preorders. :) It's great, especially since a few bits that were obscured by dialogue in the episode are now free and clear (the parking ticket song almost caused me to spew tea all over my keyboard when I finally heard it in its entirety). In addition to the music from the episode, there are also bits from "Restless", "Hush", and "The Gift", as well as a demo version of one of the songs in the musical as done by Joss Whedon and his wife Kai. But even with all that, the CD is a worthwhile purchase for Joss' liner notes alone. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Rachael Sage, Sunday, 10/6 at 4 pm ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 23:31:33 -0400 From: meredith Subject: f/episode #2 Hi, So _Firefly_ was much improved this week (and remember, I didn't think the premiere was that bad). Written and directed by Tim Minear, who has been responsible for most of _Angel_'s best episodes, this story was intriguing and genuinely suspenseful, while still managing to flesh out the characters and provide more insight into their universe. The scene where the Serenity's crew were each being interviewed by the Alliance captain really showed us a lot about each of the characters. There were some of the touches we've come to expect from the Mutant Enemy crew, too, particularly from the "no detail is insignificant" dept. The cool CGI shot of the two ships docking wasn't supposed to be quite so snakey-neat, it turned out; and nice how Jayne's comment to Simon about how he and River were like the space junk that accumulates on the outside of the ship turned out to be foreshadowing. For viewers of other FOX shows, there was a funny moment: the Alliance captain, played by Doug Savant, who played Doug on _Melrose Place_, talking with the guy who played the schizoid FBI agent-in-training in the third-to-last episode of _The X-Files_. (Well, *I* thought it was funny. :}) All in all, quite promising. We'll see how things progress this week. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Rachael Sage, Sunday, 10/6 at 4 pm ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 21:00:16 -0700 From: "Marta Grabien" Subject: Re: f/episode #2 I was encouraged as well. If Fox can just keep it's paws off of the show until Joss and Tim have had a chance to ease us all into it.... Btw, Tim's birthday is October 29th, I believe. I know they must be lurking online somewhere. Anyone know where? Anyone know where? Joss pops in at the Buffy posting board at regular intervals. I would imagine Tim Minear hangs out there as well -- or if there's a comparable forum for Angel fans. None of the e-dresses subscribed to this list look suspicious to me, alas. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Rachael Sage, Sunday, 10/6 at 4 pm ============================================== ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V4 #142 *****************************
