I'm just getting around to watching last week's episode of _Roswell_ now. I was rather surprised to see Harry Groener, the actor who played The Mayor portraying the therapist whom Isabel's husband Jesse starts seeing when he finds out she's an alien. I was very disappointed in this episode and its conclusion. I was very glad to see Cordy back -- I was beginning to worry that there was a problem with Charisma Carpenter -- although I hate yet again what she's done to her hair. The morality/ethics of the conclusion was totally wrong, IMHO. Sure, it's wrong to be in the business of sucking out people's souls, but Gunn had given full consent. Gambling double or nothing -- well, even if I approved of gambling, which I don't -- it was highly irresponsible of Angel to risk becoming Angelus again. If he had lost his soul and Cordy had tried to stake him and missed -- that's just too great a risk to take, even to save Gunn's life. And then, when he lost and then turned the crowd on the bad guy.... Again, a big ethical no-no. And, as David pointed out, it was stupid. Isn't that what the guy's bodyguards are for, to protect him against personal attack? Are we to think that all those people would immediately attack without fear? It was pretty unbelievable. I had a hard time with Fred and her reaction to Wesley, too. She's being very inconsistent. She wants them to understand what Wesley did. Then she's mean to him in the hospital and tells him not to come back ever. Then she spends most of last night's episode moping because the others don't want Wesley back. (And, hey, how did Gunn manage to slip out unnoticed and without being attacked by the slug creatures?) He also plays the romantic lead in the Gershwin musical "Crazy for You," the original cast album that came out about 10 years ago. She is in the middle of a promotional tour for the movie _The New Guy_ (which looks absolutely horrid, btw). This involves some autograph sessions in local malls etc. The complete schedule, in case anyone is interested is at http://www.almostnowhere.com/eliza/. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html =====Next Up: Molly Zenobia 5/5/02===== ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V4 #57 ****************************
