Hi, According to TV Guide, there is a new episode of _Angel_ next Monday, called "Dad". (UPN will run _Hush_ on Tuesday.) Today's poll at TVGuide.com is "What's wrong with Buffy?" (I voted for "she's a vampire", though "she's immortal" is winning.) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Dec 2001 23:55:57 -0500 From: meredith Subject: b/parallels from "buffy vs. dracula" Hi, I was just reading the script for "Buffy vs. Dracula" for no particular reason. A few things jumped out at me, from a season-6 perspective. Throughout the episode, Dracula's persistent theme with Buffy is that she doesn't know what she truly is, the darkness she comes from, or what she really could be. When he wakes her in her room, just before drinking her there is this little exchange: DRACULA You're magnificent. Buffy fights to speak, determined to hold onto her will. BUFFY Bet you say that before you bite all the girls. DRACULA No. You're different. Kindred. Later, in his castle he quotes her Tara's line from "Restless" ("You think you know. What you are, what's to come you haven't even begun."). With everything that happened in season 5, this idea of the Slayers coming from darkness and having more in common with vampires than they know wasn't really explored too much after that. Could it be that this theme was set aside for season 6? Time will tell, but I find it an interesting possibility. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Dec 2001 22:02:28 -0800 From: "David S. Not only is Buffy buried alive in the last living nightmare, and with a tombstone, but she comes out as a vampire ... and, what's more, she seems to be a vampire who can abide the sunlight. ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V3 #191 *****************************
