He should also have been more worried about Willow. I'm afraid I allowed myself to be swayed by what my husband calls supertext -- I was too aware of ASH's needing to get home to his family, and therefore uncritical of the text. I'm not sure how much better they could have done, though, given that the only appropriate time for Giles to leave would be when everything is going great and there are no foreseeable problems he might be needed for -- in other words, a time when the show isn't being very exciting and there's no foreshadowing of trouble. I'd hate for them to have to make the show boring so ASH could go home, and we really didn't need another character death just now.
