The suits at Fox have forced the Buffy Scripts Site to shut down. The woman who ran the site always removed scripts the minute they became commercially available in the published collections, but apparently that wasn't good enough. The Buffyverse has lost one of its most important resources ... I shudder to think of what other fan-run, not-for-profit sites might be targeted next. I'm sure this is just the beginning. Once the suits get wind of what the fans are doing, they rarely stop at shutting down just one site (cases in point: Trek sites and X-Files sites). ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org ======================================= ectofest 2001: August 25, 2001 A benefit for RAINN Kenosia Lake Park, Danbury, CT http://www.ectofest.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 19:43:09 -0400 From: meredith Subject: b/various news tidbits Hi, It's been a little while since I've forwarded news tidbits ... here's the latest. http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Television&action=page&type_id=&cat_id=270355&obj_id=28556 ... in which we learn that even though the _Buffy_ animated series is going to take place back in high school, Dawn is going to be a main character. Joss is justifying this by saying that the monks' spell changed history. Hmmm. http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Television&action=page&type_id=&cat_id=270355&obj_id=28555 ... in which we learn that the Giles spinoff is going to be called _Ripper_, not _Watcher_ as had been previously reported. http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2001-08/14/10.30.tv ... in which we get _Angel_ spoilers from David Greenwalt (Faith may be back next season! Yay!!!). Finally, rumors abound that David Boreanaz may be on tap to play Batman in the next Batman film. As if that franchise couldn't get any cornier... :) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org ======================================= ectofest 2001: August 25, 2001 A benefit for RAINN Kenosia Lake Park, Danbury, CT http://www.ectofest.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 16:48:14 -0700 From: "David S. It's not scripts, but transcripts; but they are very good ones. Don't tell Fox. Or UPN. At 04:18 PM 8/17/2001 , Meredith wrote: >Hi, > >Well, I guess it was bound to happen sometime. A transcript, sadly, won't give you a deleted scene or a draft copy. But it's good to know at least the transcripts are still out there somewhere ... for now. >Don't tell Fox. Or UPN.
