Just had to mention that I recognized the star of that episode -- namely, the hotel. That hotel starred in the movie "Barton Fink," and, in fact, some of the ep seemed like an homage to that film. A weird and offbeat movie, very similar in tone and atmosphere to the Angel ep (though completely different in plot). It was written and directed by the Coen brothers (who seem to have divided it in half between them, one brother taking the first half and the other the second, because halfway through the film it suddenly veers into a completely new direction, which adds to the general oddness of the movie). For anyone who enjoyed this Angel ep, I'd recommend renting "Barton Fink." We get an annual reference series called Biography Today: Author Series, and received the most recent volume (9) today and Joss was among the 10 authors profiled in this volume. Really nothing we haven't seen before, but the profile was recent enough to mention Buffy's move to UPN and Fray. Oh, and he made the cover along with Bruce Coville, Rosa Guy and Amy Tan.
