Methinks people have been reading (or writing) too much fanfic. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Jul 2001 17:49:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Todd Huff Subject: Re: b/season 6 "spoilers" - --- meredith wrote: > Personally I'm not putting too much stock in any of > it, as the tone smacks > strongly of the "spoilers" for the end of the 5th > season that were first > posted on AICN, which turned out to be 100% wrong. > Methinks people have > been reading (or writing) too much fanfic. > Agreed. Reading just the first few convinced me they were crap. Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Granted, I'm one of the few who doesn't have major problems with "The Gift"... but I was interested to find that upon second viewing, the resolution makes even more sense to me than it did before. The key scene is the one in the Magic Box, when Anya is begging for ideas and Buffy and Giles have their little confrontation of mutual understanding. I know many of you are going to call me naive and shallow for buying it, but Buffy's explanation that the monks made Dawn out of her, and Spike's confirmation that it all comes down to blood make sense to me. Also, there is clear foreshadowing for Giles' elimination of Ben/Glory, when he tells Buffy that what he's there for is to say and do the things she won't, and also when Tara points at him and declares, "killer!" as she makes her way to the door. Not knowing what was to come, I'd missed that the first time around. I know from Xenaverse experience that when people have as strong a reaction to an episode as people have had to "The Gift" it's really hard for opinions to change, but nonetheless I'm going to recommend to all a repeat viewing anyway. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Jul 2001 21:16:05 -0500 (CDT) From: allenw Subject: Re: b/The Gift redux meredith, I'm in the middle of moving, but once things are unpacked I'll re-watch The Gift My thoughts on it already closely parallel yours, though. -allen ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V3 #114 *****************************
