The show would rapidly run into the ground if there were no problems that Buffy couldn't fix by just kicking ass or other such flummery, or if it _only_ takes the superhero-comics escalation route by making the bad guys tougher and stronger, like Adam and Glory. > Rob turned to me during this episode and said, "You know, this show would > be so much better if Buffy got killed. Part of the reason that Buffy is "brought down so far by such a mundane thing" is precisely because "she expects to be able to fix everything." The other part is because her mother is sick. Wouldn't you be upset if your mother was sick in that way, even if you _could_ do something about it? I know that Buffy and Joyce are only fictional characters, but IMHO Rob should give them a break. > Of course, in the very next scene Buffy quite thoroughly got her clock > cleaned by Glory (again), so I turned to him and said, "I think she's > starting." :) Knowing the way this show is written, that probably has something to do with it. (But in that case, I hope the end of Glory is something other than a piece of Narnian-style trickery pulled out of a hat regarding her "deadline".) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 13:18:25 -0500 From: hhertzof@wls.lib.ny.us Subject: Fwd: Re: o/charlie's angels - ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: o/charlie's angels Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 13:07:38 -0500 From: Hilary Hertzoff On Sun, 26 Nov 2000, you wrote: > Hi! > > Just wanted to pop in with a glowing recommendation for _Charlie's Angels_. > I went to see it over the weekend with a couple of sisters-in-law, and I > haven't had that much fun at a movie since ... gee, I can hardly remember. > At least since _Mystery Men_. > Ditto the recommendation.
