Bratman" Subject: Re: b/comments 10/25 Well, that was pretty satisfying. I've been grumping (quietly) about the Dawn issue since she first turned up, but I'll give the writers full marks for this solution. Plenty of room for even more ambivalent feelings about her from Buffy (as Dawn gets annoying again, as she is sure to). And once again, like Riley last year, Buffy has a secret from her gang. Among the various open questions now, I am less concerned about the identity of Beast-Woman (she's some powerful demon: we'll find out soon enough, and it won't make any difference) and more about whether Faith's "little sister" remarks in the dream really do refer to Dawn: because, in the chronology as we now appear to understand it, that was long before Dawn existed or apparently was even thought of. Ben (the intern) may be a clue, as suggested. I think Joyce's medicine is a clue. We don't (I think) know what it is, exactly. And then there's its curious provenance. Buffy picks it up from the pharmacy. She is conspicuously holding it as she grips with the insane watchman. (Is he talking to Buffy just because he recognizes her, or does the sight of the medicine set him off in some way?) Then she drops it, and Ben picks it up: that's unusual (for tv if not real life), and there may be something in that. (Ben realizing something significant about Joyce by reading the label? Or he's a villain who switches bottles while Buffy isn't looking?) ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V2 #207 *****************************
