(drumroll please) Including both loose-mail and digest recipients, we're at a grand total of 21 subscribers. Welcome all! And on another topic entirely (Don, I can't believe I forgot to mention this when we talked yesterday), I finally saw _American Beauty_ the other night. Wowza. Definitely deserves the accolades ... I'm going to be buying the DVD when it comes out, because it's one of those that needs repeated viewings, I'm sure. No, not the lesbian symbolism; that's hardly "hidden" anymore. Anyway: I'm talking about something I semi-noticed while re-watching the spellcasting scene in "Who are You". I rewound, freeze-framed, and sure enough, there it was... I think. Try it yourself, if you have a tape: - Find the scene in which Willow is closing the curtains, just before starting the ritual (about 36 minutes into the hour); - Just after that, Tara annoints Willow's head, lips and heart; - As the annointing scene slowly dissolves into the "Willow and Tara sitting facing each other" scene, pause the tape. Step through the dissolve. When both scenes are superimposed, look for a familiar outline. What do you see? . . . . . . . . . . Here's what I saw: 1: Start near the top left of the screen, where the string of tiny white lights forms a subtle inverted arch as it passes over Willow and Tara's heads; 2: Follow the white lights down on the right, and when they end continue the arc through the right side of Willow's blouse's neckline (from the annointing scene); 3: At the bottom of the screen, turn sharply up and to the left, following the curve of Willows hand, arm and shoulder as she sits facing Tara. From her shoulder, follow the white lights as they curve right back to our starting point. What do you make of all this? What I made was a valentine... very subtle, slightly irregular, but there. It's even partially red. Either this is a remarkable combination of coincidence and my imagination, or this is some very careful, very subtle direction, camerawork and editing. I prefer to believe the latter. -Allen W. ------------------------------ End of stillpt-digest V2 #55 ****************************
