From: owner-st-digest@smoe.org (st-digest) To: st-digest@smoe.org Subject: st-digest V2 #4 Reply-To: st@smoe.org Sender: owner-st-digest@smoe.org Errors-To: owner-st-digest@smoe.org Precedence: bulk st-digest Saturday, June 2 2001 Volume 02 : Number 004 Today's Subjects: ----------------- beth sorrentino on wfmu [/dev/woj ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 01 Jun 2001 13:20:09 -0400 From: /dev/woj Subject: beth sorrentino on wfmu beth sorrentino, former vocalist and pianist from the band suddenly, tammy!, made a visit to the wfmu studios on wednesday during irwin chusid's show. she played and chatted with irwin for 80 minutes and then stuck around for a live performance of b.j. snowdon's "in canada" (including a second take since she muffed up the first one) for the following program, incorrect music. here's what she played: supersonic runaway * kids * get off the ground places we go * untitled ** hazel ** beautiful dream river, run whole lot of girl * untitled ** bound together bathroom * * from _comet_ (the unreleased third album recorded for warner brothers) ** new it's a shame about _comet_ being held back by warners since the songs from it are excellent. i'm sure they would have sounded great with the band. i've heard "runaway" with the entire band on irwin's program before and it's quite nice. he did imply that promotional copies of the album had leaked out though, so keep your eyes out (i already checked ebay though; no copies there). beth's not actively persuing music (she's busy working with kids as a teacher and in after-school programs), but she's still writing songs and hoping to get back into the music scene again. she said she's planning on doing some shows around new york city sometime. if i hear about any, i'll be sure to get the news out. the program is archived in realaudio at . beth's appearance starts at 1:39:34 (use Play | Seek to... from the real player menu to get to that point) and continues to the end of the program. unfortunately, the fidelity isn't that great since it's a mono, 20.7 kbps g2 stream. fortunately, i captured wfmu's 128 kbps mp3 stream and have decoded that to wav for burning to audio cd. if anyone's interested in a copy of either the 80 minute appearance or the 60 minute incorrect music program featuring the additional live performance, just drop me a line and we'll work something out. woj p.s. the source mp3 is 129 megabytes; a little bit too unwieldy for sending around. if anyone knows of a good mp3 editor which can be used to slice up the big mp3 into pieces, please let me know. i'd rather not reencode the decoded wavs back to mp3. ------------------------------ End of st-digest V2 #4 **********************
