I've been through 4 years of recording industry hell with my main favorite band (10,000 Maniacs, recently divorced from Geffen after only 1 album); when I got into S,T! I figured that the label that picked up Elvis Costello would be able to recognize the talent and accept (maybe) a limited market. Is there no hope left for good music and inspired lyrics? I know that Sara Hickman's fans got together and helped raise money to purchase her album, Necessary Angels, from her record company after they dropped her. How much are they asking for the ST! album? Just a quick, perhaps blasphemous response...if we haven't heard the album hwo do we know what kind of music/lyrics are on it? I mean, I think I did hear some of the songs performed way back when they did some shows, but still. I'm not saying I really think it wouldn't be a worthy album but I can't say for sure w/o listening to it. I too am really sickened by this awful music biz shenanigans...hopefully when I'm an entertainment lawyer I can help my clients not get screwed over like this, but in their case, I talked to Kenny one night and he said that their lawyer says it's perfectly legal for the label to do this. But it's almost like why did they sign them if they didn't like them? I guess it really is all about $$$... I'm sure it would be a few thousand dollars at least...but I could be way wrong..it could be a lot higher if they want a piece of the future cut.
