Eastern standard time zone is -5 hours behind Grenwich Mean Time(taken at zero, let's say). Singapore time is +8 hours ahead of GMT. So, if you use 8 pm EST for the chat, you must add 5 hours to reach GMT(taken as zero), which now puts you at 1 am the next day, for the GMT zone. To reach Singapore from the GMT zone, add 8 more hours, and you are now at 9 am Singapore time, the next day. I think your Math is correct for the chat for Singapore time. Good luck ! She was part of the lineup for kmtt's Earth Day benefit concert, along with Train and John Hiatt. And what an adventure it was... :) The evening's antics began when we were about to cross the street over to the theater...who should we see in the garage, taking a guitar out of a car but Shawn herself! Of course, we were flabergasted...we had to walk down the street in hopes of seeing her again, but no such luck. We probably made the security people nervous. Anyway, onto the concert. Shawn was up first--she played solo with just her guitar. Fashion report: she wore a kinda funky sweater deal that had about one button in the middle (thus revealing her oh-so-flat belly) with low-hanging gray pants. Her hair was reddish. She looked cute and fit. As for the set list, I can't remember verbatim. I will hash it out as best I can. She opened with Twilight, which sounded absolutely lovely. I think she played Anywhere You Go after that, followed by Bound to You. (She mentioned how there was a recurring theme of "you" in her new songs.) Lets see, after that she did Shotgun, dedicating it to kmtt (which calls itself "the mountain"). This is where I forget the order...I know that she played Wichita Skyline, Matter of Minutes, Nothing Like You, Steady On, Sunny Came Home, and Round of Blues. [warning: some four-letter words in the next segment] Stage banter: Even for an hour-long show, she still managed to fit plenty of that in. :) She mentioned how she was going to quit music and "go Hollywood." She explained that when she did Elmopalooza, Ernie took her aside and said (about the music biz), "Look man, fuck this shit. You gotta get out." Shawn went on to say, "And then he kissed Bert right on the mouth." She talked about how she had a small role in Heartbreakers, and how she had to sleep with tons of people to get it (of course she was joking...I think ;) ), and also mentioned her upcoming Simpsons episode. Some time in between songs some drunk guy started yelling stuff, and so Shawn called security, saying "Do they have security in a place like this?" The drunk guy was escorted out. Shawn handled it like a pro, though she admitted that it rattled her a bit in a place like this...she would expect it in a bar or something. This brought on a brief discussion of Pretty Woman, because we all know how Shawn can incorporate movies into just about anything... All in all, it was a great performance, though definitely too short. (Yeah, yeah, there were two other performers waiting...so what?) The acoustics were awesome, and her voice sounded incredibly clear and beautiful. Steady On, Nothing Like You, and Matter of Minutes were the highlights of the show for me...it was really neat to hear the new songs acousticly. Oh yeah...the emcee mentioned how this was probably the first time anyone had said "the F word" in Benaroya Hall. Okay, I realize that this is probably getting really long, but I did want to briefly mention Train and John Hiatt, to give them their credit. They were both really good--Train went after Shawn, and the lead singer mentioned how it made him nervous to follow Shawn, so he dressed up as this drunk fat guy and started heckling her from the audience...anyway, they were patching things up and so he wanted to dedicate "Meet Virginia" to her. Very funny. They were very good; I especially enjoyed the dance antics of the lead singer, who was quite a cutie. John Hiatt was really good too; he had the crowd defying the security guy by dancing for the last few songs (those little rascals). It was a great, but long evening. Definitely worth it, though. Hope I haven't bored everyone to death with the length of this review. :) lindsey - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
