Sadly, the incredible picture that was on the cover of the section that contained the newsprint article doesn't seem to be available with the online version, and me with my mysteriously broken scanner; sigh. I would have scanned it for the masses. Sorry 'bout that folks. Suffice it to say, she looks good. Really good. The article lends insight into the mood behind the songs, and i am pretty surprised that my first impressions of the songs were pretty off. Happy Schmappy. Shawn is all about Songs-O-Pain. And i like it like that. So enjoy the article, and don't forget that the movie Heartbreakers, starring Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt is coming out and be on the lookout for that cameo appearance by our Guru. Would love to hear if anyone catches that. have a great weekend, ya'll! ~jean aka bH, dying to hear that Tropicana commercial... Now Playing: KFOG FM live on web radio. But instead of running down songs she played (which has already been done), I thought I would just make a list of things she impressed on me during the show. She came out and sang one song with Kim Richey. She was wearing a camouflage 3/4 sleeve shirt and gray/green military issue (it seemed) pants. She looked incredibly tired. Red hair. Little or no makeup. She discussed a phone interview she had with a gentleman from the UK ("They're very repressed over there...") during which she colored her hair, drank a cup of coffee, logged onto the internet and responded to all her email. Apparently, he kept asking her questions that she could answer with "yes" or "no". She had an "ant tattoo" from her daughter on her hand. She apologized for the same "stage patter" as previous nights. "I am brilliant, but can't come up with something new every day." For her show, she wore this funky sweater that buttoned once in the front--exposing belly button ;) --plus the military garb pants I mentioned earlier. She asked the audience if they liked the sweater (it still had the tag on it--"You won't tell if I return this will you?"). By a vote of cheers it was determined she should keep it--slim margin though. Once, she bent down and the glittery broach that kept it together in the front came undone. She just looked at John (Leventhal) and laughed. She commented on how 'hideously ugly' Katie's deadlocked hair looked. She was in Bergdorf Goodman, 2nd Floor shoe department (with Katie) that afternoon at 4 pm to shop. Someone in the audience had a train whistle and once she discovered what it was, she took it from him asking, "Do you have cooties?" She then blew into it and told him next time he did it he had to do the "bark, bark" afterwards (???). Didn't really catch that joke myself. Mike Rhodes (I think is his name), the bassist, and Shawn discussed how/when they first met. She commented that she heard he was a lady-killer and was afraid the first time she met him. She was "afraid she'd want to do it with him" because that's what happens when she "meets lady killers." Then he cleaned up his act, and now she doesn't 'want' him anymore... Stuart Smith was there. Love that guy. She discussed a Rosanne Cash show at the Bottom Line at which she was asked to participate in 'It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" (I think), and how nervous she was. "Hot damn, that's Stewie," she thought as it was the first time she had seen Mr. Smith. The entire show she had problems with her earpiece. It kept getting caught in her hair. Someone mentioned Jim Henson--a musician, not the puppeteer. Supposedly if you play Wichita Skyline backwards to the Wizard of Oz it's excellent. She told the Wichita story again...only thing that worked other than that was Tokyo (which didn't go). She also commented that there are a lot of other 3 syllable cities, but they don't have the same...oh man...I already forgot the word. Ro-ches-ter. Think Lolita here...You guys know what I mean. At the end of her show she commented that they would be leaving. "Hey, we're paid by the hour. Chop chop. Let's get out of here." "But if you cheer real loud we'll come back out again. Just something that we do that nobody else does." Callie did not make an appearance. And that's the end...I think I've rambled on and on and could continue but I need to prioritize my day! Please don't quote me here, it's just what I remember. Feel free to add / emphasize / correct if you were there...Wish I had taken my camera as I did see flashes in the audience. Could have gotten some great close ups. Anyway...hope you've enjoyed this.
