(not that I'm cross- promoting or anything) ; ) >> Aha! You may cross promote ANY of your people all you like, Lisa. It's all about great music you see. I just found out that Dar Williams and Catie Curtis will be in austin in october at La Zona Rosa. I saw Catie Curtis in Telluride a coupla years ago. What a treat!! Any chance that you-know-who could show up? With Steuart there and all - how could she not? I'm gonna pee my pants, i'm so excited. Have i mentioned that i love this town? At any rate, i am soooo there. The band sounds outstanding, and La Zona Rosa is a great place to see a show. I saw Dar a couple of years ago in North Carolina when she traveled in the touring Newport Festival with Marc Cohen, Joan Baez, Wilco, Lyle Lovett, et.al. Can anyone recommend their favorite Dar CD? Okay, so i'm going to admit something... I saw....well.... I saw MatchBox 20 last night.... and, well, and...umm... I LIKED IT! Rob Thomas was **INCREDIBLE** as a vocalist and their band really could mix it up. Not just a re-hash of their album cuts, but thoughtful and unique arrangements of some very complex songs. Hehhheh, some were not so complex, however, as the band belted into their rendition of "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys." There was audience participation ... (I am proud to say, i don't know the words to that song.) It was a mixed crowd of 30-somethings, college students, and screaming teenage girls... definitely something to see. One of the highlights of the evening was the pre-show music of 80s music, including Van Halen's, "Panama," Duran Duran's "Please Please Tell Me Now," and Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough," the latter of which inspired a conga line of 30-Somethings and a lot of dancing in the aisles before the show. Lots-O-Fun. During MatchBox's set we learned that the band was very fond of 80's tunes and they did a nice cover of David Bowie's, "Modern Love" complete with a real horn section. Believe it or not, folks... they were good!!!! Anyways, this has been an exciting few weeks of music for me - I was fortunate enough to see Lady Jane Grey last week... If you don't have their CD yet, you are really missing out! Get it NOW! See 'em live if you can; you won't be disappointed. allright then, that's it for me. Once again, it's my bedtime... Sweet dreams to the Small Repairers. ~jean aka bH - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
