When the new CD is released, and this list is buzzing with news and reviews, the propagation of multiple copies of messages may prove to be a real problem. Dar joined Shawn at AGF a while back in a bid to advance her career, and Ron and co have given her the foundation to create her most compelling and consistent work to date. She is still, like Shawn, fundamentally a folk artist, but is not afraid to use a wide range of supporting instrumentational concepts to create her own sound. There's going to be no Sunny Came Home mainstream breakthrough with this CD, but it is gaining her some significant airplay. She's touring widely in the continental US at the moment, with a few dates in Canada, all with a full band. If she comes near you, go see her! :-) News, samples, other cool stuff: www.darwilliams.net Dave. ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. Shawn is actually in Los Angeles now, mixing the new record with John Leventhal and Bob Clearmountain (who mixed AFSR). They intend to be finished on Sept. 15th. Shawn will compete in a Triathalon in Malibu on Sept. 17th!!! Once the record is passed by the record company it will then be mastered (or adjusted and then mastered) - maybe two weeks later - and finally FINISHED. Then the fun begins! The record company will put it on their schedule, which we predict will be for sometime around the end of Feb. (give or or take a couple of weeks once the marketing & promotion plans start rolling). Either was I expect you'll have a new single (for the radio, not for sale) to hear by the end of January. SO IT IS TRUELY ON THE HORIZON, I PROMISE! In other Shawn news, this week she tapes another episode of The Simpsons (yea !), air date still tbd. In November she will go to Bora Bora (they said Hawaii wasn't "exotic enough"!) to tape an episode of a new series to be called Music In High Places. It will be a weekly (?) series showing different musicians going to far off and exotic locations to explore the place, its indigenous musical cultures, and to perform in that setting. It should be very exciting. The series will air on Direct TV, beginning this fall I believe. I actually don't know any of the other artists on it except for Alanis Morrisette, who taped the first show in Arizona. This is basically all I know - the rest of the schedule's a blank while we wait to get going on photo shoots, video shoots, press interviews, etc. Will update you all when I know more. Take care! Greetings all! My, oh my. Aren't we a fiesty bunch?? It's always nice to see activity on the list. Thanx to Neil for the replay of Haemorrhoids; I know that shawn enjoyed it bcz i watched her read it. You guys are always so very passionate about this list, and i think that is a good thing. It's why i love yoos, you see. But in light of recent postings, let us now breathe deeply: [insert appropriate inhalation here] and perhaps a meditation mantra for good measure [don't forget to exhale], and direct our energies towards all the new publicity that is sure to begin very soon for shawn's new project. Let's join hands and Kum Ba Ya, okay? Very good. Thanks to Lisa at AGF for the update on the Shawnmeister! There is sure to be a barrage of television appearances when the new single comes out. All the regular appearances will most likely come about, such as Good Morning America (who seem to truly like shawn), Today Show, Regis and, well... Regis (Oops! err... she is gone isn't she?), Entertainment Tonight, Leno, Letterman, Saturday Night Live, Etc. etc. I can, of course, only speak of American television - it should be pretty exciting. I wonder if MTV will be helping shawn out. I'm very very excited that Shawn has decided to play here in A-Town! Found out about it on Thursday, and had my tickets by Friday, dontcha know. I've already promised to post a detailed review of the show in honor of Anna & Lindsey, who, are in A-Town *this* week, and are verrrrrrry saddened that Shawn will be playing exactly a week AFTER their departure. (Sorry guys. If i win the texas lottery any time soon, i promise to fly you down on my personal jet, okay?) I recently saw Lyle Lovett here in austin, and was hoping hoping hoping that shawn would drop in. Alas, she did not. But! I admit my heart paused for a moment when Lyle announced a friend of his would be joining him for a few songs. T'was Allison Krauss!! She was great!!! Sigh. So close. I also saw Sting a coupla weeks ago, and thought MAYBE, just maybe. Didn't happen, though. Sigh. In other Shawn News: There is a local TV commercial that plays fairly regularly here; a 30-second spot for the wonderful station KGSR 107.1FM; a station that i've even heard play "Trouble" on a lazy sunday afternoon (check it out - you can hear it on the internet). The commercial plays Sunny Came home in the background whist morphing pictures of radios into boomboxes and boomboxes into radios, and eventually fading into the radio station logo with shawn on the right half of the screen. She is sporting a tight black shirt and dark camoflauge pants sitting on the floor, looking up at the camera above her and saying in a sultry and sexy voice, "KGSR, 107.1 Radio Austin." Woo Hoo! Kinda fun. BigHaired Babble continues.... At work the other day, whilst on hold with a doctor's office in an effort to request a prescription refill for a patient, i was lulled into peace and calm as i listened to a muzac version of Ricochet In Time... proof positive that shawn has "made it" wouldn't you say? In response to the home page for Small Repairs being down, i utter a humble, Eeeek! I haven't heard from Casey in a long while and am pretty sure that he is busy with college life and has no time for website upkeep. He's always handled the technical aspects of this list and so i declare my website ignorance. But, i will try and find him to see what can be done about it - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Meanwhile, is anyone out there proficient in the art of mailing list procedures? I could use some advice if you can spare the time. :) RE: Cover Girl 2 - The only tune that i could come up with was Sting's "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying." Has that poetic irony that always suits shawn so well... just my humble opinion. AND SO! I should shut up now... Bedtime for BigHair. Thanks for tuning in. And hang in there, folks. We've almost made it thru the Drought Ala Shawn. It will most definitely be worth it. Dontcha think? Methinks yes. G'nite everybody. Remember: Kum Ba Ya, okay?
