This is what happens when posts are filled with repetition. People can't see the wood for the trees. :-) So, to repeat (hopefully justifiably): > You miss my point. I'm not objecting to the original "Haemorrhoids" post in > the digest. I'm objecting to the wholesale reposting of it in the same > digest. Wholly unnecessary, and not an isolated incident. You see? I *liked* the original post. I didn't care for getting a second redundant copy. As I recall, there were quite a few Dar fans on the list too. Shawn is still number one in my heart, but I do listen to others, like Lady Jane Grey. Go Sarah go!! Anyway, it could be something else to check out while we are eagerly awaiting Shawn's latest. > > ______________________________________________________________________ > Dar Williams > Green World > $12.58 > > The long-awaited fourth album from New England singer/songwriter > Dar Williams captures all the simple folk magic of her previous > work and magnifies it. It's *not* that "Haemorrhoids" was re-posted (and given that I did not have access to the list 3 years ago, I'd never seen it before), it's the fact that within the same digest, there was a reply to that post, needlessly including "Haemorrhoids" in full again, only adding a few lines of comment. Even beyond the rules of the list, it's not about having sufficient time to read the digests in full, it's about a lack of editing. After all, if you were replying to a letter, you wouldn't include the contents of that letter in full in your response. Kay ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I could understand if this group was flooded with letters each day, then clamping down on the etiquette would be warranted, but with the limited amount of mail that this group post it looks more like nit picking then constructive criticism. -:) Sammy - ----- Original Message ----- From: kay melmoth To: Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2000 3:23 PM Subject: Re: [s-r] Posting Etiquette > I think some of the responses have rather missed > Dave's point. > > It's *not* that "Haemorrhoids" was re-posted (and > given that I did not have access to the list 3 years > ago, I'd never seen it before), it's the fact that > within the same digest, there was a reply to that > post, needlessly including "Haemorrhoids" in full > again, only adding a few lines of comment. > > Even beyond the rules of the list, it's not about > having sufficient time to read the digests in full, > it's about a lack of editing. In answer to Dave's question (thus far ignored)about further Cover Girl-esque covers of songs written by songwriters originally featured, I keep getting a vision of Shawn singing Sting's 'Fields of Gold'.
