They were supposedly written by someone named Kalie Busam. The guy tells me that Shawn totally copied it, and no one noticed that it was recorded and won Grammys. I think that's all bull, but I think the lyrics are pretty entertaining... Jenn Sonny Came Home To His Lonley House Sonny Sat Down In the Kitchen He opened a Magazine and Looked down at the page Well, Sonny came home with a mission. He says days go by I don't know why Jax won't do back to Miranda I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Thinking of Brenda Sonny came home with an image of love He didn't believe she loved Jax "It's time to make her mine," he said to himself Sonny came home with a vengence. He said days go by I don't know why Jax won't go back to Miranda I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Thinking of Brenda Get the pen and write the letter Jax is good but Sonny's better Their love is strong, you always knew it Make her your's go on and do it Oh days go by I don't know why Jax won't go back to Miranda I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Thinking of Brenda Kiss her now and hold it tight Her world is burning down She'll leave Jax if you only ask Cause your Love's so bright Sonny Came Home Sonny Came Home ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Hi all! Here is a little tidbit of news that i found in the entertainment newspaper here; it's way late, but kind of neat: "Fans attending Sunday's Rockin' the Cradle concert might be treated to a new song or two by Shawn Colving from her still-in-the-works album, reportedly titled "Kill The Messenger." Columbia Records has tentaively fiven it a December release date. Colvin, wo's playing Sunday's benefit for the Mothers' Milk Bank of Austin without pay (as are Sara Hickman and Joe McDermott), also just finished a song with Bela Fleck called "A Moment So Close." It will be on his August release, "Outbound." She'll be outbound this summer playing sporadic fesitval dates." Well, well. I definitely missed this one. A free show, and i had to be out of town. The bad part was, that i kept rationalizing that she would probably only play the same ol' songs and it would be nothing big... NOT! Lo and Behold, a co-worker of mine was in attendance and she said that shawn played new material AND had Callie with her onstage!!!! DRATTTTT. Regarding the new album, very interesting news, yes? I'm wondering how accurate it is. Could this mean the re-release of Kill the Messenger? Methinks that would be verrry interesting. I personally think that a re-release of Diamond In the Rough would kick ass, but that is my ever-so-humble opinion. I was totally green with envy for those folks who will be getting to see Shawn open for Sting, only my two favoritest musicians who walk this Earth!!!! Oh sure, Sting will be playing Austin, and yes, i will most certainly be there (section 33, row 3 - sounds icky), but doggone if Shawn won't be playing with him!!!! Johnny Lang is scheduled to open for Sting here in A-town. OHHHH! The Agonyyyy.... why won't she play with Sting in the town in which i live???? AAARRRgghh. Ahem. Must maintain composure. I'm over it. For now. RE: Summer concerts. Recently caught Suzanne Vega at an outstanding new venue here in austin. One World Theatre had the VH-1 StoryTellers feel to it and honestly not a bad seat in the house. Ticket prices were slightly high, but well worth it just to hear the song Caramel! Our only bad luck was that we were in precisely the row that was blinded by the spotlight reflections off of the front of the guitar... eeeek. Sunglasses were badly needed due to the intense glare. But no matter. It was still a fantastic show. (Say, Lisa... A great venue for shawn!!! But...hmmmm... could be too small. Check it out!) RE: The Alleged Life-Sized Cardboard Cutout(s) of One Xena: Warrior Princess. I will neither confirm nor deny. RE: The Birthday of Our Soon To Be One Year Older Lindsey: Woo Hoo! Yo Go Girl! Have a great time at your show. We want allllll the details, so ye bettah just be sure to bring pen and paper, cuz you got some note-taking to do, young lady! Take care everyone! ~jean :) now playing: Lady Jane Grey - Self Titled (luv this CD.) and an attachment that some of you may or may not find interesting which is why i put it at the end: Subj: Red House Update 6/5/00 Date: 6/5/00 3:39:27 PM Central Daylight Time From: marketing@redhouserecords.com (Bob Feldman) To: rfeldhouse@aol.com Hi everyone, Greg Browns new album "Covenant" will be in stores on August 8th. Greg is selling them at some of his June gigs and we are taking mail orders for delivery starting next week to people that are on this list and the gb list. You can call Roland at 1-800-695-4687 or fax us at 651-644-4248. Lot of people are already calling this his best album yet. Here are the tracks: 'cept you & Me Babe, Rexroth's Daughter, Real Good Friend, Blues Go Walking, Waiting On You, Living In A Prayer, Dream city, Lullaby, Blue Car, Walkin' Daddy, Pretty One More Time, and Marriage Chant (hidden track). Bo Ramsey produced & Greg's daughter Pieta designed the album package. If you don't have a copy of our Root Awakening Red House Sampler with tracks by Lucy Kaplansky, Dave Alvin, Guy Davis, Cliff Eberhardt, Hart Rouge, Martin Simpson, Greg Brown, Spider John Koerner and Chuck Brodsky ask Roland to put a free copy in with your order or ask for one for a friend. Giving away the sampler has been a great way for us to get the music of our artists heard and a great way for our friends to discover wonderful new artists. I'm starting on a new project that will be a benefit cd of women doing Greg's songs. Our first track came in yesterday from Lucinda Williams doing Greg's "Lately". Lucinda and Bo Ramsey did it together and it is definitely straight from the heart. Powerful. I'm still working on my list of women to ask to take part in it. Iris Dement, Ani DiFranco, Gillian Welch, Lucy Kaplansky, Cheryl Wheeler, Nina Gerber, Stacey Earle are all contributing a song to the project. I'm also asking Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin carpenter and Emmy Lou Harris to participate. I'm still waiting to hear from other artists. If you have any suggestions of artists to include or songs they might do please email me. I hope this will come out sometime next year. Have a great summer, Bob Feldman - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
