But not by anyone who has ever tried to sit down and work out one of her tunes. It is inspirational - in the way that a great drummer like Peter Erskine, say, is equally inspiring to Joni. How could you not want to play along with that? To me, that is God-like, in that their craft has reached a level of baffling beauty, but still remains very human. Thank you Meri - your post got me going this morning! Paul PS Please go and take a look at the Joni guitar site which has just been up-dated by the wonderful Susan, Marian, Howard and Mark. Just re-tuning your guitar to a special Joni tuning can inspire hours of explorational heaven. Pick a song - any song! There are 141 in 88 different tunings. http://www.jmdl.com and click on 'Guitar Tablature Database'. Talking of tunings, can someone help me with 'Tennessee'? On Shawn's interview with Bob Harris a while back she played this live in the studio and, at the end, Bob commented on the tuning and asked her what it was. She started off by saying that it used a dropped D but she'd forgotten the rest. Is anyone building a Shawn guitar archive out there or have I missed something obvious? - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. It was either BigHAIR or DooYaBayBay (anyone remember her?) who finally referred to me in a way that made me realize what everyone had assumed. >and a great many lonely years when the most brilliant >phases of her work was dismissed out of hand While we're correcting ourselves, I hate it when I make a last minute edit to my posts but then fail to notice that the grammer later on needs to change as well. And I do it quite often. But even *worse,* I know it's pure Vanity that I should care. Not to mention, majorly gauche to take up listserv bandwidth explaining... But did that stop me?
