Michelle As a subscriber to the Joni list as well, I've been thinking of coming over from the UK to visit her Canadian hometown, Saskatoon, to see an exhibition of her paintings, which opens on June 30th (during the Saskatoon Jazz Festival) However, discovering that a few days earlier Shawn will be playing with Mary Chapin on a warm summer's evening, at an open-air ampitheatre in the grounds of Chateau Ste. Michelle, a Columbian Valley winery about 20 miles from Seattle WA, I'm sorely tempted to alter my plans. Does anyone know if this venue is as good as it sounds to see concerts? They have sent me a list of 5 hotels within 5 miles, but I thought I'd ask if anyone from the Seattle area has any suggestions. Also any good car hire/delivery deals? After the gig I plan to take my own 'hejira' and drive over the bump to Saskatoon. Many thanks Paul For this month's UK folk/acoustic gigs, festivals & tours go to http://www.folkmusic.about.com and scroll down to 'Across the Pond # 7 - April 2000' by Paul Castle or e-mail pdcmusic@freeuk.com PS. Shawn played for Dylan at the 30th Anniversary Show in 1993. I imagine you could use this show to link Shawn to just about anyone though.>> While this is a noble and very correct answer, there is actually a more direct route of equal length that exists without the aid of "We are the World" or the Dylan Show. Yo Rob! Surely you know this one. Take a stab won't you? :) ~jean aka bH NP: Jonatha Brooke: Plumb PS: Paul, read your Across The Pond #6 and enjoyed it very much... couldn't find #7 though! Help please. :) PPS: one more summer tour to look for is Marina Belica, former vocalist for October Project, who is launching her solo career with her upcoming release December Girl. Check out http://www.decembergirl.com/ and her amazing band (Gerry Leonard, Emil Adler and Julie Flanders to name a few) and her setlist (ani difranco, joni mitchell and OP, of course!). I'm excited about this one because i always wondered why October Project didn't go on with Marina on lead. Anyways... there is also a compilation CD available on her website called Refuge: 01. Broken Line - Melanie Gabriel with Peter Gabriel and Joy Askew 02. Revelations - Jennifer Kimball 03. Central Station - Freedy Johnston 04. Skin - Wild Colonials 05.
