But just in case this post does go out, here's a classic put-down from George Ade: . "Her features did not seem to know the value of teamwork." . Hardly nice, but oh so clever! . - -Meri- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. So to maintain some semblance of activity, here are my top five Shawn covers of other people's tunes. (I'm still struggling with my top five of her own material!) Here's hoping my damn server doesn't eliminate half my paragraphs returns, as usual... 1. Window to the World 2. Window to the World (etc.) 3. If These Walls Could Speak 4. Love Comes Down at Christmas 5. several others off the Lullabies CD I've never heard the original of Window To the World, but Shawn's version is so fine, I was rather surprised not to see it on other people's lists. It's got superior material for both extremes of the "Myers-Briggs" song-listening spectrum: great lyrics *and* great music! Kind of early Ricky Lee Jonesesque in feel, don't you think? "Chuckie's In Love," for example. - ------------------------------------- (NSC) add-on: For those who don't already know: Myers-Briggs is a system that helps you understand both your own personality type and those of the people around you. It's often used in the workplace and in other team setting to help everyone recognize, have a language for and ultimately accept four broad differences in how we each go about life -- differences that otherwise DRIVE US F***ING CRAZY. . Whining voice: "Why does she *always* do it that way?!!! It's so *stupid* to do it that way." Why? Well...along with a quarter of the human population, that is her natural way of processing information, making decisions, or whatever the behavior is. She does it differently than you do, and always will. So get used to it. . There's no Myers-Briggs category for music enjoyment, however; I made that part up! Lastly: This is a rather long post, so if you do respond, *please* don't quote the whole darn thing. The more considerate approach is to cut & paste a key line or so at the beginning just to remind everyone which post or statement you're responding to. And that, he said in a desperate attempt to tie together his way rambling thoughts, is a perfect example of how we modify minor aspects of our own behavior out of plain ole respect for other people's styles and preferences. (And, in this case, their various internet access modes and expenses...) . - -Meri, apparently in a pontificating and wordy mood- . "We're one, but we're not the same We get to carry each other Carry each other" -- Bono, another one of dem pontificator types . . . - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
