Claypool" Subject: [s-r] sotw, hibernation, & easy livin' Oh, so I guess we *have* done The Story. I thought so, but I wasn't absolutely sure. So I'm a *teensy* bit disorganized. Okay, since Jenn has already graced us with her analyzation of You and The Mona Lisa, I hereby officially make it the song o' the week. I'll send another post w/the lyrics, just so it feels special. I agree w/Miss Kat, we could never run out of insightful Shawn songs to discuss (although if I may add another semi non-insightful tune to the list, I don't think Get Out of This House is the deepest song that's been penned by our guru). I'll try to keep more organized song of the weeks going. I've just been so busy havin' fun in the sun... :) Hah. I've been busy working my a** off. And as I'm sure everyone on this list must know now from my constant complaining, summer is an every-other-week feature here in the northwest. Currently it's quite overcast and slightly windy, with temperatures at a balmy 61 degrees. Must be cuz it's my day off. So right now I'm hibernating a little too, and hoping the weather improves before the day is over. Okay, that was probably enough rambling for everyone, huh? :) Have a lovely day. Oh, btw, Kat, how's that petition going? Any dead tv execs yet? ;) ~lindsey - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. You And The Mona Lisa by Shawn Colvin & John Leventhal Hold me down to anything Anything that you see I should walk away right now I'll be there, so never mind I'll be the one to fall Waiting for you to look up at me Oh I love you the most Always giving up the ghost In your own private conversation You're a sweet mystery There is nothing in between You and the Mona Lisa Nothing in particular And everything in between This is what you mean to me Only you and only me Climbing in the right direction On the way to everything We were walking up high And no one thought to try But I was the one to blame And it was just a mirage So I hid in the garage 'Til somebody called your name Oh I love you the most Always giving up the ghost In your own private conversation You're a sweet mystery And there's nothing in between You and the Mona Lisa Nothing in particular Just you and the Mona Lisa... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I think I took care of all things I was supposed to do while there: listened to KSGR, shopped at Waterloo Records, got some Amy's Ice Cream (Me: "Holy Cow! What is that woman doing to my ice cream!" My sister: "Relax, you'll like it."), bought a hipster shirt at Flipnotics, cruised the UT drag, saw "The Blair Witch Project" at the Dobie (ooh, scary!), got lost on Mopac and attended my first Lilith Fair. My sister had to work, so we missed most of the second stage acts. I caught the end of Trish Murphy who was pretty cool. I was pleasantly surprised by all the main stage acts. Luscious Jackson was fun and Monica put on the best show. I'm kinda indifferent to Sheryl Crow, but I gotta admit, she can rock. Sarah McLachlan put on a good show as well and did "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" to guarantee that I'd go home happy. Shawn and her guitar was nestled between Monica and Sheryl, and although her set seemed short (waah!) she hit all the favorites. She started with her perennial opener "Even Here We Are" and covered most of the bases. I'll leave a set list to others but those I remember off the top of my head were: Polaroids, Get Out of this House, Sunny Came Home, I Don't Know Why (it's been a while since I'd heard that one live), You and The Mona Lisa, and Diamond in the Rough (she had to check to see if the band knew that one). Shawn's set was marked by an honest to goodness rainbow that covered the sky from one arc to another. How's that for an endorsement? The weather was pleasant for Texas. In fact the weather guy on TV remarked that it was 10 degrees cooler in Austin than it was in Boston. I picked a good weekend to be away. Austin was nice, but I think I'll keep Shawn happy and not move there. No mass transit. No Red Sox either. Mark, still rubbing off the "Girls Rule" temporay tattoo A rainbow at the Fair Still, I should've brought sun block My poor Irish skin! - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
