Claypool" Subject: [s-r] sotw-- new thing now Hi guys. I know, I'm terrible at keeping this song of the week thing going...I've just been busy lately. But, how about we talk about New Thing Now? As Mr. Terry Lee Hawkins commented, it's been quiet of late, so I thought maybe we could discuss this little ditty. Again, sorry about sending the lyrics...I'm just kinda paranoid about copyright infingements. Does anyone know if someone will get in trouble for the lyrics being sent? If no one sees a problem with it, then I can go back to sending them. So, any thoughts on New thing Now? I'll just say that I adore this song (but I adore them all)-- I like the melody; I think the lyrics are superbly crafted & clever. That whole conundrum she describes of not wanting to want what the current "it" musicians have is really well-stated. I love the wittiness of it. Okay, I'll end this now...anyone else have anything to say on this little ditty? ~lindsey ps-- thanx to the person who posted the story about meeting joni mitchell @ the seal concert-- i enjoyed reading it! - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Hey there again~ I read an interview w/ Mary Chapin Carpenter today where she talks about her future record plans, and she mentioned that she & shawn have talked for years of doing a duet record. Wouldn't that be the coolest? They sound great together; I'd love to hear a whole album's worth of duets. It'd be especially cool if they'd written all the songs... I wonder if they'd ever co-write. That'd be pretty cool too :) I hope someday they get that duet album off the ground, at least. ~lindsey, basking in the rare Northwestern sunlight :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Amber, who is 17 today! :) ps. i share a birthday with newt gingrich. yay. roll out the barrel. :) "Lindsey A. Claypool" wrote: > Hi guys. I find it hard to resist approaching 'my muses'. Now that I've delurked to share the Joni story, I will admit to hanging out with Shawn's bus driver outside of a theatre in Royal Oak, Michigan so that I could meet her, while my cousin and my friend stood at a safe enough distance so as not to be considered "freaks" ! She was really nice, and even thanked me for making the drive from Toronto. Then she told me that she lived in Canada when she was younger. "Oh yeah", I said "in London,Ontario" which evoked a surprised look in Shawn....again - - so much for being cool !
