I haven't seen this on www.shawncolvin.com, but on www.artscape.org it lists her as performing at 4:15 on July 11 on the Decker Stage. Artscape is a summer festival here in Baltimore and the best part about it is that its FREE! So if you're nearby, here's a chance to see our wonderful Shawn perform for nothing. And by the way, they are playing a lot of Mary Chapin Carpenter videos this month on CMT and if you catch "I Feel Lucky" you'll get a few glimpses of Shawn. Take care everyone! I love to share great music with people who might not have know about it otherwise. Besides, the more acoustic-based artists we support the better our chances of riding the airways of that darn rap music I can't understand. I discovered our lady Shawn on April 14, 1990, and I have been successful in converting 28 people to date into bonafide Shawn fans through exposure to her CDs, concerts, and recorded appearances on Austin City Limits, Hard Rock Live, and Sessions at West 54th. Anyway, I discovered an acoustic duet called Vertical Horizon in August 1996. I've since collected all 4 of their CDs, including their newest, "Everything You Want," which officially hits record stores tomorrow. These guys have a large following in the Washington, D.C. area (just like Shawn), which is where they got their start. They've put out two prior studio CDs and one live CD over the last few years. Now they've added two more members and got picked up for major label distribution by RCA for this new CD. Their sound has sort-of changed to include a little more "electrified or studio-produced" for lack of a better word without losing any of thier great vocals and knack for a great melody (not unlike Shawn's evolving sound as well). Their first single is "We Are." If you are also fans of music by Jackopierce, Toad The Wet Sprocket, or Lowen & Navarro, I really think you will truly enjoy Vertical Horizon. So, don't just take my word for it. Why not go over to www.verticalhorizon.com to check out their website and some great audio samples from all of their CDs. I think it will convince you to give 'em a try. I don't know how to do these link things or I would have set this message up so you could just click on the address. Plus, if you act now, you can get a chance to make your own five-song CD comprised of your choice of songs from a list of exclusive live and demo cuts by the band for only $4.99. Anyway, I hope you'll like it and I apologize to any list members who feel their time was wasted by reading this post. Happy listening...... Last night I went to see Seal here in Toronto, and walking into the ampitheatre right next to me was Joni Mitchell. She is beautiful ! I almost thought it wasn't her because she looked too young, but it is hard to mistake her distinctive features. I stayed cool and opted not to approach her. About halfway through the concert I went to get a drink, and I walked right by her. So much for being cool ! I could not resist talking to her - I am a huge fan, and she is such an icon ! She was very sweet and gave me an autograph. Wow !!! - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
