Claypool" Subject: [s-r] sotw-- the story Hey all. I'm back, a little late, for another round of "song of the weeks." I've become a little concerned with sending the lyrics along with the sotw, because there have been so many copyright issues going on lately, so I figure ya'll can listen to the cd or read the lyrics yourself in the music room at http://www.shawncolvin.com Jeer@juno was right, things have been quiet, so I thought maybe a good ol' sotw could liven things up. And The Story has always been one of my very favourites :) In keeping with the favorite line(s) from the song theme from last time, I'd have to choose either the lines "I gave nobody life, I am nobody's wife, and I seem to be nobody's daughter" or the verse about the color red. ("red is the color that i like the best, it's your Indian skin & the badge on my chest/ the heat of my pride, the lips of a bride/ It's that heart of the truth, and the flag of youth/ And the blood that is thicker than water." That one always just really hits me-- I don't know why, exactly, but it affects me a lot. What can I say, our girl is just a lyrical genius. It's as simple as that. I also really love the rhythm to this song-- it and Kill The Messenger have this wondeful groove to them that really fits the lyrics and the whole mood of the song. Well, I've probably rambled enough for now, and made up for the quiet spell of the last couple of days all by myself. So I'll turn it over to the rest of you-- any other opinions on this little ditty? ~Lindsey - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
