Claypool" Subject: [s-r] (NSC) Steve Earle on Letterman For those of you who hear others talk about what a character this Steve Earle guy is, you can check him out on the Letterman show this wednesday. He'll be performing with Del McCoury and his bluegrass band (not his usual style of music). They'll probably just perform, but if there's any one-on-one with Letterman, look out! In truth, I have trouble imagining Letterman and Earle maintaining any semblance of a conversation with each other. It will surely be a strange pairing if they do. Earle is not what you'd call a linear conversationalist. And Letterman, well god help him, he's Letterman. I swear, the best thing about Po5 is their musical selection-- a lot of the time they manage to find just the perfect song to fit with the emotion of a scene, like If I were Brave in the afore mentioned episode, and "Between Two Worlds" in the scene where Ned was driving Julia home after her fight w/Griffin. One that always really got the waterworks going for me was the scene from the eppy in the first season where they're all visiting their parents' graves and Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game" is playing. ~Lindsey, the hopeless party of five junkie :) (still working on that xena/po5 crossover, right kat? ;) ) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Forgive me for presuming to correct you Meri, me being a mere smartass aussie and all, but isnt Sir Steve of Earle appearing on Letterman on Friday night? I check the upcoming guests on Letterman's web site each week (http://marketing.cbs.com/lateshow/pantsnews/#guests) so i am forewarned and can avoid incidents like last week when i forgot to check and missed Nanci Griffith on monday night (damn damn damn) - and there Steve is listed for friday.... which makes it saturday for those of us who must suffer a day's delay on these things. Do you have some intel that is kept from us foreigners Meri? By the way, I too would love to see Steve and Dave having a bit of a chat.... heheheh... would be most amusing i suspect. kat "don't call me chief", the shameless xena/po5/letterman junkie ;) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Although I spose it could just be that 99% of Shawn's songs are my favourite Shawn songs, so I apologise for that unfounded accusation ;) The first thing i have to say about If I Were Brave is that it has always been my preferred swimming song.... errr.... not that anyone cares about my scant exercise ritual (including me most of the time) but on the occasions that i do force myself to swim laps for the sake of my health, i need at least one good song to be playing in my head to a) keep me from noticing how tired and bored i'm getting and 2) keep me swimming at some kind of vaguely regular pace. So i spose you're all thinking i better keep my day job and not pursue any dreams of olympic gold if i choose If I Were Brave as my swimming song, and i'll concur totally. Not being a big fan of physical exertion i tend to go totally nuts and wear myself out within 5 minutes just to get it over and done with - hence the need to pace myself with some forced slower rhythms, and that song just seems to work perfectly. Plus i usually forget a few of the lyrics and keep myself nicely distracted by trying to remember them. But i digress.... Altho, as is not uncommon for Shawn, all the lyrics in this song are awesome, i think my absolute favourite line would have to be "How could it be that I was born without a clue to carry on / And still it is the same now I am older" - clearly she was channelling me when she put that one down on paper. Oh and my other absolute favourite line is "It was never clear what would come next but that's the risk and that's the test". There's life for ya in 25 words or less. My last comment on this song is that i loved it when Shawn played it both times i saw her in sydney back in 97... which did in fact seem to be somewhat brave of her, as she said herself when asking the sound guy to lower the keyboard a tad - "i dont love myself on piano too much" (or words to that effect... basically a "where's my guitar??" kinda separation anxiety statement...) ;) kat :) p.s. yep lindsey, xena/po5 crossover episode production is coming along well... stay tuned for a draft script and remember to keep me informed of the po5 characters you would most like to see receive a few nasty knocks about the face with a chakram.... and also what song should be playing in the background at the time.... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Nah, I'm just picking *my* favorites :) You all are welcome to give me suggestions, though, if you tire of my admittedly biased choices.
