If I recall correctly, it was one of the first ones on Steady On that I fell in love with... probably because of the great rhythm and spare arrangement. I love the lyrics, too, of course (I can only think of one of Shawn's songs with lyrics I don't love), but the overall "sound" of Steady On took some getting used to for me. I don't know why... This is also one of my dad's favorite Shawn songs; he fell for it when we saw Shawn in concert (despite the fact that she was doing her Slingblade impersonation, couldn't stop laughing, and messed up the lyrics). --Anna P.S.-- another possible thread topic-- Over time, quite a few people have mentioned playing the guitar; I'm wondering just how many of us do. I suppose I can add Shawn Content here by asking what kind of luck you all have had playing her songs. (For the record, I've been playing for a little over a year now, and my favorite Shawn song to play (one of the few that actually comes out well) is Killing the Blues (oh, okay, so Shawn didn't write it, but I've only heard her version, so for me it's a Shawn song.)) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. My favorite to play is "Someday" (also not a Shawn-written song but I plead the argument above!) and Sunny Came Home, because...well, everyone knows it. I've done it at several guitar concerts at school and the like, and everyone seems to know it and love it! Plus you can't beat all those neat-o Leventhal licks in there. Cheers! As good as the lyrics are, the real emotion created by this song for me is from the haunting melody and brilliant guitar lick. Also, Shawn's vocal arrangement and performance are absolutely beautiful. Try to listen to this song closely (especially with a pair of headphones) and not be moved. When I first heard Shotgun, Shawn Colvin's exceptional talent became crystal clear at the same time. A transendant song that never got the national publicity it deserved. Yes, there is. The official website of this list as a matter of fact has a link to CDnow. Ironically, it is THE SAME link I posted in the e-mail I sent to the list. And, it does indeed, help a little with the cost of the list and website. I guess, as the list owner, I should have made that clear in my last post, but it just slipped my mind. That being said, the website is kind of in limbo right now, the server ate some of my HTML code and so it's not loading right. But the site and the CDnow link should be up and running by tomorrow evening.
