Hello everyone. Just thought I'd pass along this bit of info I heard on the radio the other day, in case someone in the land of Oz is interested. Apparently, Split Enz (with our favorite guy in the world, Neil Finn and his brother Tim) is going to play a concert along with David Bowie (well, I think it's David Bowie-- i wasn't listening till they mentioned Split Enz) and maybe some other people (I forget) to welcome in the new millenium in Australia. What's cool about this is (if you're brave enough to fly an airplane when y2k hits, that is) that you could take in that show, then fly back to the US and take in any other millennium shows you wanted to, cuz those Aussies are so far ahead of us. Anyway, just thought some might be interested. Maybe Shawn'll be their special guest :) - --Lindsey - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Not to harp on the minor distinction *yet* again or anything, but the David Bowie/Split Enz new years eve show is actually in New Zealand, aka that little two island country to the right of Australia, which may or may not be able to claim Neil Finn as their own.... heheheh.... and trust me Lindsey, the thought of going has already crossed my mind - depending of course on those of my fellow small repairers who will be joining me for what has become known as A2K ;) For anyone who wants to go to the show, and is brave enough to make the trek, its called Gisborne 2000 and is being held, oddly enough, in Gisborne, which is on the east coast of NZ and is, as they so proudly proclaim "the first city to see the new millenium". Clearly these people know a tourism marketing opportunity when they see one. They're boasting that as well as the concert it will be a 24 hr long light and sound spectacular (or something like that). If anyone's seriously interested in going, they have a web site at http://www.gisborne2000.co.nz/. I'm already impressed that they got Split Enz to reform for the show (not that they dont seem to do that occasionally anyway I guess) but if Shawn turns up - hell, I'll be there with bells on. And even if she cant make it, maybe Xena will be there! (not that anyone at all on this list could give a hoot about that, of course....) ;) kat :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I'm sure I'll post a review of NYE no matter what I get up to ;) Assuming of course that the world doesn't *actually* come to an end, or the internet to a grinding halt when the clock ticks over - which btw, is a good argument to be down here for the big moment - at least the weather will be nice and warm and we'll make sure there's plenty of beers kept chilled in the esky so everyone can relax comfortably until the world gets back in regular running order.... kat :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I wish I could add something official on this, but since I can't, I'd like to propose that its highly likely that Shawn *will* be at Telluride this year, based solely on the fact that its highly likely I *won't* be - - and that seems to be the way she works.... sigh. kat :) p.s. oh right bH, forgot - there's no sighing in baseball. p.p.s. maybe if we ask really nicely we can coax some info out of AGF.... now if we only had someone who had inside connections with them... hmmmmm..... ;) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
